  1. What a moment for Padurariu! After a terrible year, she will win a medal at the World Championships! Well deserved!
  2. Shirai was terribly overscored. The landing on his first vault alone was worth 0.6 less in his execution score, so a 9.150 E score is unrealistic since there are other deductions that should be applied. Cunningham was robbed.
  3. Very ugly first vault from the North Korean guy. It's unbelievable that he was given 8.9 in execution for a vault with lots of glaring mistakes. Poor judging at its worst.
  4. The maximum number of nations to earn a medal at a single edition of the world championships was 19 in 2007. So far we have 14 different nations with a medal, and real chances tomorrow for North Korea, Netherlands and Ukraine, good chances for Colombia, Armenia, France and Croatia. Hong Kong has slight chances -- one gymnast from the country is in the final, so who knows what might happen? It worked for Vietnam in 2011. It would be nice to break the record this year.
  5. I'm not celebrating a medal for Zanetti because he's a homophobic piece of trash and supporter of our future fascist president. So, congratulations to Italy and Greece. Deserved medals.
  6. I can't believe Radivilov performed so bad. Man, what a surprising competition. And Petrounias was overscored, but he still deserves the gold medal even if all the other gymnasts perform the routines of their lives. No one can come close to what he does.
  7. Yes, Seitz! She deserves a World medal soooo bad!
  8. The Downie sisters are known for being headcases, but man this was really rough. Eliie lost her balance right at the first kip to handstand. This is the easiest skill in her routine! Girl, this is the WCh final, who does that kind of mistake? Then she had another silly mistake in the easiest skills in her routine again, and had to count an empty swing, bad leg form and eventually a fall (only the fall was deducted, though, since errors leading to the fall are not counted). Wow.
  9. And now Whitlock got silver. It looks like the clear favorites (Shirai, Whitlock) are only getting silver today. Well, Petrounias is next and Zanetti was second in qualifications, so let's hope this chain keeps up going strong.
  10. Not this time. She opted for a "simpler" vault (6.0 instead of 6.4). Her execution was not the best, but still pretty good. The second vault is both very hard AND her execution is nothing short of extraordinary, so she did deserve this title regardless of how difficult her vaults were.
  11. This could be the year when the Americas (the continents) will finally shine at the World Championships. Three nations already got medals, Brazil has very big chances ahead and Colombia has a real chance on the parallel bars.
  12. OMG! It's unbelievable that Olsen with an awkward and ugly first vault got a better score than Moreno. No. Just no.
  13. I think Moreno will earn a medal now that the South Korean girl did not do so well.
  14. Shirai was beaten! FINALLY!
  15. Medal for the Philippines!
  16. If a gymnast has a late turn during a pirouette in handstand position, this eats up 0.5 from her score. Maybe she performed a late pirouette two times and nailed it in the all around final? I don't know, really, just a wild guess.
  17. In 2004 there was a problem with the vault table, so the whole event should have been canceled and the final should have been held another day. The problem is that Khorkina fell on vault, then she lost her focus and fell the uneven bars as well, so the problem might have been her lack of mental strength to recover after a problem, and we can't say this is a problem from anyone but herself. In 2012 Komova had a significant deduction on vault, and she has no one to blame but herself. Douglas is not my favorite gymnast, but she deserved the gold medal.
  18. Even counting two falls, Biles is the world champion 1.693 ahead of Mai Murakami. Yes, she deserved the gold medal even with the falls, but she was slightly overscored on floor. Not that it would have made any difference, actually.
  19. Biles had to falls. Unbelievable!
  20. Wow, what an amazing result!
  21. He was not among the favorites for a medal. The fact that he did really well in three apparatus is what is surprising. Now, pommel horse and parallel bars alone should be enough for the Chinese gymnasts to take the lead. And it's a bit sad that the guy from the Phillipines is having a terrible day. Let's see how he performs on floor.
  22. This is interesting. The lyrics are very similar in Spanish and Portuguese, so this is mostly an adaptation. Of course, if the original creators were not informed about the adaptation this is copyright infringement, but I have no idea about whether they did know or not. As a side note, unfortunately the singer of the song Lambada was murdered in a shocking and utterly cruel crime last year. May her rest in peace.
  23. I wanted a medal too, but I'm happy with the fact we have grown so much that we can challenge for a medal. Last time Brazil made team finals at the world championships was in 2007! And now if we had repeated the scores on the uneven bars from the qualifying stage, we would have won silver. Insane! Flávia still has a chance on floor. She had the second best score today!
