  1. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!!!!!
  2. We're a country of immigrants.
  3. Bloemen!!! Thanks Netherlands!
  4. What a turn around in the 9th end of NOR v CAN. Looked like Norway was going to score at least 2 if not 3, but Canada ends up stealing 2. Looking good for the win now.
  5. Well, our pairs came through. Does that mean the relay and 10000m are a given now? Really looking forward to the luge relay since I missed it last time because it was in the middle of the night for me. It's just after dinner this time around. What the heck happened with Homan. Did not look good this morning, but hopefully she'll recover. Probably. And, yay! We beat the USA. It's meaningless in the long run, but still nice.
  6. Robanske just had to stay on his feet. Oh well.
  7. Okay, falling is part of this sport, but this is getting ridiculous.
  8. Hernadez's helmet!
  9. Robanske moves on....somehow!
  10. Duhamel and Redford!!
  11. Not a great start by Homan. Lots of curling to come, though.
  12. Don't forget CAN vs USA in women's hockey, and the men start their tournament off against the Swiss.
  13. They finished 4th twice in Sochi including the team event. Of course we're still waiting for the Russians to be DQed (again).
  14. In general, no, these people don't know anything about sports. It's just extreme nationalism. Let's just say even though I had a great time in Korea and know many wonderful Korean people, I can easily understand how North Korea happened.
  15. Probably another 4th for Walker and Snith. But good momentum going into the team relay.
  16. Canada's 10 medals have come in 7 different sports so far (curling, figure skating, short track, speed skating, luge, freestyle and snowboarding) with good chances to come in hockey, bobsleigh, skeleton and x-country. The record is 10 different sports, set by Canada twice and the USA once.
  17. This is normal for Korea (I lived there for 10 years). Look up what happened to Apollo Ohno. Or FIFA in 2006. Or boxing at the 1988 Olympics. Story: At London in 2012 Park Tae-Hwan was DQed for a false start in the 400m swimming heat. That moved Canadian Ryan Cochrane into the final (this decision was later overturned, for no good reason I might add). I was the lone Canadian (or foreigner of any kind) at my place of work in Seoul and I was greeted the next day with anger, yelling and insults by my co-workers. I was told it was all a conspiracy by the swimming association and Canada to discredit Korea and push the Canadian into the final. After I was done laughing at the idea that Canada had any sway with the swimming federation, I just hid in my room the rest of the day. I was kicked out of the lunch room at noon, but when Park was re-instated later that day I was mocked relentlessly and my country insulted. This all by grown educated adults who I had been "friends" with for years. For the duration of those Olympics I was reminded daily by several co-workers of how many more medals Korea won compared to Canada while being laughed at. Koreans, in general, are terrible losers AND terrible winners. Their English word for cheating is "Cunning", just to let you know their view on the subject, by the way. Right after the race last night, I turned to my friend and told him, "And here come the death threats!". I enjoyed my time in Korea and have made some lovely Korean friends. But this is also a country where every international sporting event I went to, locals would stand for their own national anthem and then sit for the other country's while loudly talking away. I want our hockey team to destroy them. Just absolutely smash them. Unfortunately half the Korean team is Canadian, so it'll probably be pretty close.
  18. All three Koreans in Q1 of the men's 1000m. There goes their hope to sweep. On the bright side, they're guaranteed at least one to the semi-finals.
  19. Yup, pretty good day for Canada. I predicted 3-4 medals, and they delivered. Short track was messy, basically had a mini-stroke in the men's relay. Boutin may have gotten lucky, but it makes up for St-Gelais. Was hoping to see both of them on the podium, but oh well. I had the pleasure of seeing short track in Shanghai a few months ago and Boutin really looks fantastic. I have high hopes for her in the other races, but there's always so much going on. Gough was consistent enough to get a medal, and you can't help but feel great for her after Sochi. The other Canadians did great as well. A concern is that De Haitre looked hurt or something in his race. He's got the 1000m, which he is better at, in a few days so I hope he gets on form by then. Another concern is Alex Harvey blowing it in the sprint qualification. Maybe he's focusing on other races? Or is this another 'miss' at the Olympics? 10 medals in 7 sports so far with chances in hockey, skeleton, bobsleigh, x-country and possibly alpine still to come. The Dutch can win all the speed skating medals and Norwegians can get 12 golds with 3 athletes in cross-country, but Canada is probably the most well rounded winter sports country.
  20. Yay! Not really ever in doubt after that first match, though.
  21. Nope, bronze! Man, that was a rollercoaster ride. Not least because my internet went out for about a minute and a half, just enough to miss Eitberger's and Gough's runs.
  22. I dunno, it looked like Choi interfered with Boutin. My feed wasn't the greatest, but I don't think it was a terrible call. Actually, I thought Christie did some interfering, but I have to take another look at the race. In any event, congratulations to Arianna! Finally a gold for her!
  23. I was there for the WR set by the Americans in Shanghai!
