  1. Whatever happens, it's been one hell of a game (especially the 3rd period). Also, Canada is redeemed a little bit now.
  2. Goddamn it, Germany. You had it! A one goal lead with a PP with minute left! Nothing against Russia, btw. Just rooting for the underdog.
  3. Half of Team Korea was born and raised in Ontario.
  4. The two Canadians Germans on a 2-on-1!
  5. Damn. Frustrating, because if it wasn't a tied game late in the 3rd that would have been a penalty where the Russian got hurt.
  6. I do want Germany to win because who doesn't like an underdog. But that would give them 15 gold which would break Canada's record. Soooooooo...
  7. I think they're proving it (again) right here.
  8. Switzerland: Oh good, we only have to beat Germany....oh crap. Sweden: Oh good, we only have to beat Germany...oh crap. Canada: Oh good, we only have to beat Germany...oh crap. Russia: Oh good, we only have to beat Germany...oh crap.
  9. Just going to delete my post because it was a long screed on different definitions of 'cheating' and the majority of sport fans acceptance of it.
  10. Germany will probably tie Canada's record 14 gold medals tomorrow in bobsled (and if miracles do happen, they might break it in hockey). Norway can also tie the record in cross-country. How about this, Germany: You let our sled sneak in for bronze in bobsled and we'll give you some tips on how to beat the Russians in hockey? Even at 29, it's our best total medals ever and best non-home gold medal count. That is pretty incredible considering the debacle in curling, and to a lesser extent in hockey, too. Got medals in 9 sports, and came so close to tying the record of 10 today with a 4th in cross-country. Pretty well-rounded performance. By they way, Sebastian Toutant's gold in snowboard today was Canada's 500th Olympic medal (summer+winter) ever. Pretty cool.
  11. She's Canadian and fell at the Olympics. That's pretty consistent.
  12. Yay, gold in snowboarding! But Parot had at least silver right there for him.
  13. It was just a joke. The announcers are so careful about the 'appropriate' name. I was just making fun of that.
  14. The world has caught up, fine. But the Canadian teams were just terrible most of the tournament. Team Koe was 10 feet short of the hogline on a draw in the semi-finals, and that was about two shots after being 10 feet short on a draw to the button for a point. Later on, Koe was way deep on a draw to score two in another end. They made lots of unforced errors that cost them games. We can say that other countries used to be bad enough so those mistakes didn't matter, but in my recollection Canada rarely made those mistakes.
  15. Congratulations to Germany! The better team won tonight. I knew Canada was in trouble after that game against Korea. Now go beat those Russ...errr, Olympic Athletes from Russia!
  16. Where is the falling on your face emoticon? Tonight was a disaster on all three. It's truly amazing that Canada will have their best performance at the Olympics while curling and hockey have been a total wash. That's actually really impressive, at least for our other sports programs.
  17. Congratulations to Switzerland! Canadian curling was a disaster this Olympics. This is what happens when you get complacent and cocky. I was at the semis and Koe's rink looked totally discombobulated and disjointed. CBC had an article about how the rest of the world is catching up to Canada in curling, which is true to a point. But Canada's mens and womens were also just terrible here. I witnessed a stone that was 10 feet short of the hog line last night, which should never happen at the adult level, never mind at the Olympics semi-finals level. And that was shortly after another 10 foot short miss. That wasn't because the USA got better over the years, that's because Canada thought all they had to do was show up and collect their medals.
  18. Canada playing like crap again.
  19. Very good day for Canada so far. Hopefully it follows through this evening with curling, speed skating and hockey.
  20. Maybe edited clips to show how the Koreans were screwed over
  21. Yeah, read this today. Good news, all things considering. I saw his crash just before boarding a plane so I had no idea what happened for hours, but I knew it looked bad.
  22. Three in a row for Canada! 2010-2014-2018
