  1. What an amazing Olympics for Canada. When our soccer girls scored 20 seconds into their first game even before the Games started, I think it was foreshadowing for the next two weeks. I'll never forget watching the relay team the first night, with my heart in my throat as Penny charged down the lane for bronze. It was a surprise that created a new normal for Canada not just in the pool, but in many other events in Rio as well. The next four years will be delightful, watching so many young Canadians develop into legitimate superstars. Honestly couldn't have asked for anything more these last 2 weeks. Thank you Canadian athletes! And now on to Pyeongchang 2018. I hope to actually be there, it should work out. I'll be in Pearson tomorrow, but probably much earlier than any Olympians will be arriving back. Should have thought about that before a booked my ticket!
  2. Well, one of the mountain bikers or Bishop needs to get a medal to tie Atlanta. Probably not going to happen. Still an excellent Olympics, and lots of the medalists are very young.
  3. Is there a reason De Jonge was so slow? I know he wasn't great at the start of the season, but I thought he was getting better. Is there an injury or something?
  4. Anyway, congrats to Jamaica (esp. Bolt) and Japan!
  5. That was such an amazing last leg for De Grasse (and amazing for everyone else, too).
  6. Agree. But it's the rule, apparently. I remember reading about it a lot in 2012. Any lane violation is an automatic DQ. It's fine, though, I would be fine if Japan doesn't get DQed.
  7. Absolutely. But if you DQ one country, you have to hold up that rule on other countries. I don't like the rule either, but it's about fairness. But whatever, they get bronze apparently anyway. Until the USA appeals and they say they can re-run the race and get the gold.
  8. I'm fine with them not getting DQ'ed, but it's the exact same infringement that Canada had in 2012.
  9. Will Japan get away with another one? Almost the exact same thing DQ'ed Canada in 2012.
  10. Now there's a question about lane violation on Japan! I thought so on the replay, but I didn't want to be a sore loser. But it's the exact same as Canada in 2012.
  11. Well, it was a great run. De Grasse was spectacular on that last leg. Japan...you're on the list after today.
  12. Some perspective: The Canadian team just beat the national record, set by the gold winning team from 1996.
  13. Just like driving, if you're the one behind it's your responsibility not to hit the guy in front of you. In any case, it was pretty clear the Japanese guy hit him on purpose. With the decision in the replay last night and now this, no one can say the judging is fair. I said last night that I thought the re-race was the best solution but it wouldn't have been done for any other country. They just proved that. Absolute farce.
  14. I mean, how does it go? "He bumped me!" "Yes, clearly. He's disqualified". "No I didn't" "Ah, I see your point. Reinstated!" Also, Henderson had a horrible day on the links. +4 on the day.
  15. Great ride by Nyhaug! But only 5th. Great job nonetheless!
  16. Man, what a few minutes! And let's keep it going with the BMX final.
  17. Bronze for Lamaze! So close to gold, though.
