  1. I usually don't predict women's wrestling because I'm not much informed about it. I mean about men's freestyle and Greco I follow almost all competitions during the year. injury news etc. but for women's wrestling it's mostly about world champions and Olympics. someone can be world champion 2 years ago but we don't know about her current shape. but let me try my chance 50kg: looks like a good draw for Castillo, bottom half is most probably about USA and CAN in the SF. 53kg: no room for luck with this format, I would go with USA/CAN naturally but that ECU girl dominated everybody at PanAms hard to write her off, 57kg: again 2 group format, I go with most obvious prediction even though ECU isn't that bad, but both USA and CAN are World Champions ! 62kg: this one is really hard to predict, I think it's easy to say who will make it to the SF but both semies will be close. there are 4 favorites here, COL and BRA alongside usual favorites. 68kg: no USA in this weight, Canada looks like huge favorite in top half , maybe BRA can challenge her. bottom half is more balanced, I say Cuba but then there is not much difference between them 76kg: I think only COL is a real treat to BRA and CAN.
  2. any special reason why Mexico didn't enter Leyva ? I know he wrestled at PanAms and lost convincingly to the same guy from Cuba (the same guy your other wrestler has to face tomorrow) but still to me he was your best chance. if this guy Vicente is better than Leyva (I assume that's case) he has a chance but then he is facing the best wrestler in the competition ... I think your 77kg and 67kg are not without chance, that American guy Sancho loves to throw everything that's a dangerous tactic for himself too.
  3. actually that's why I registered this time but I didn't consider one thing, it's not about just being busy, of course I have nothing to me most of the day. almost the whole day with all sport competitions are being cancelled . but for listening to music specially if you want to judge them you have to be in certain mood but then I always keep my promises, so my votes will be ready in time. still plenty of time left
  4. ah again, another dumb American journalist tries to play smart first everybody knows the number from health ministry is not accurate, because they only count those who pass the final Corona test, but because of limited resources they can't test everybody. that's why I never trust the numbers, the real number of infected people is MUCH higher, 10000 is just a joke and the number of deaths is also higher (but not the way those dumb journalists try to picture) even the number announced by health organizations in each province is different, if someone sums up those numbers that gives a total number of 780 deaths at least so far for the whole country. remember local health organizations are still part of the same government, (if there was a "cover up" they wouldn't do that) the difference is they don't limit themselves to only count 100% Corona positive deaths. they also count suspected deaths too. they are almost sure about most of those suspected deaths through CT-scan but still health ministry doesn't count them because they only believe in their own 100% confirmed tests. if Iranian economy wasn't crippled and the healthcare system wasn't ruined because of financial troubles, I'm sure we would have the accurate number by now as someone who knows Iranian social media , 90% of these kind of videos are fake or exaggerated, no matter who makes them, government or anti-government organizations. I mean of course there were dead bodies but Qom is a city with more than 1 million population, mostly old population unlike the rest of the country , everyday is a busy day in the cemetery . and with the news of Corona coming out, they treat all dead bodies the same, just to not risk their own lives. that mass graves things is nonsense unless they are preparing something for the future in case that's necessary, I have first hand information about this one since I had a relative who died from Corona (as I said 2 days ago) the funeral and the grave was like any other death, they just didn't let anybody to be there when they were burying the body and they buried it much deeper than normal, his family visited the grave the next day. the Iranian government is to blame for sure for so many reasons, for not informing people about the danger very clear and very quick at first, mostly because they wanted to finish their stupid parliament election which had a very low turnout after all. (lowest ever in history) and also to not quarantining Qom, because of stupid religious reasons, only because it was Qom. and also for not cancelling all nonsense religious events immediately. (they did that but when it was too late) also for not cancelling all flights from China immediately, if someone checks the map, only central provinces are deeply involved which means the virus came through plane and directly from China. (guess why Iran is this much dependent on China and didn't cancel the flight soon) there are so many reasons to blame the Iranian regime but please, don't believe whatever you read. some so called stupid "oppositions" believe they can spread any bad thing (truth or lie) just because they hate the current regime (which I do hate too, but I hate lying more than anything else) and they feed some dumb foreign journalists with these nonsense. everything happens for a reason, and there is no reason right now to cover up anything. actually from what i see people are too much relaxed I would love to see "panic" here. if I was on charge I would announce the numbers 10 times bigger just to make people understand the danger. if people continue not listening we will reach that disastrous day your journalist tries to picture soon. we need to do something like Italy. ps: American journalists better work on their own country's problems, the last time I checked USA is no paradise regarding the coronavirus treat because of mismanagement. and maybe solving problems there, solves some problems here too. after all when you throw 10000 disasters on a country and make life miserable for people there (and you are even proud of doing that), some of those disasters come back to you too. who knows maybe some of those Iranian-Americans bought coronavirus to the United States. this is disgusting when people politicize such worldwide disasters
  5. yes we have some interesting unblanaced brackets at 57 and 86 freestyle 57kg: of course USA/CUB in bottom half will be close, but I see nobody to challenge Mejias. 65kg: this one is too easy to predict 74kg: top half looks OK for Gomez , only that NCAA guy representing Colombia can be dangerous, bottom half will be very easy for grandpa Garzon 86kg: my top 3 are all in top half, I go with David Taylor but I hope Cuban gut upsets him. bottom half is wide open for everybody, I think Ambrocio will have the advantage but he got injured in Pan-Am Champs final. I don't know how good he is 97kg: no room for "luck" with 2-group format, I still go with my earlier prediction, even though that VEN guy lost to DOM narrowly in Pan-Am Champs. Cuba is 99% guaranteed a spot but the 2nd spot is available for 3 guys, DOM, CAN and VEN 125kg: againI stand on my previous prediction but Pino showed some progress in his freestyle abilities, I think he is capable of beating any of these 2 guys. and Greco 60kg: I still pick Cuba but that Colombian guy won gold in PanAm Champs few days ago and he is very dangerous. bottom half will be decided by first round match between ECU and USA 67kg: top half looks more interesting with COL, VEN and BRA, can't see much competition for USA in bottom half, maybe Mexico 77kg: golden opportunity for everybody in top half, bottom half will be more interesting with 3 favorites, Pena beat Smith in PanAm Champs (whole Smith beat him earlier in the first round) so I give him more chances. 87kg: while Greco is unpredictable in general but this one looks easier than the rest 97kg: same as my previous prediction 130kg: Venezuela is kind of lucky to avoid both Chile and USA. that Armenian guy from Brazil is his biggest challenge
  6. Qualified NOCs Women's 49kg Women's 67kg Men's 58kg Men's 80kg and qualified 3 athletes here.
  7. I updated my previous post at the end of all quarterfinals Brazil is the only Pan-American country capable of having 2+2 athletes in Taekwondo . because Mexico lost to Peru in women's 49kg. I took those results from MasTKD website and also watched half of them on the livestream. not 100% sure about one of 80kg QFs. between Honduras and Puerto Rico. MasTKD result page shows that 10-9 for PUR but then HON as the winner I wonder why Canada sent this girl to the qualifier and not Yvette Yong !! injured or something or lost the trials ? but as we know Canada still has a good chance to receive the quota in this weight. but nothing is guaranteed they may use this free spot as a wild card.
  8. Semifinals so far Women's 49kg vs vs Women's 67kg vs vs Men's 58kg vs vs Men's 80kg vs vs good chance for Haiti to qualify its first athlete Aruba was also close, Aruba girl at 49kg was leading the top seed from Brazil until the last couple seconds ...
  9. no quota for the host nation Costa Rica, they are all already out, I guess they won't host an Olympic qualifier in a sport with proper seeding system anymore also with Jayden Ishida losing to Colombia, USA won't have a male athlete in Taekwondo, for the first time in history if I'm not wrong
  10. I think people in East Asia are naturally disciplined , when they told to not do certain things, they simply listen to those advises . but I don't think you can say the same about the rest of the world. speaking of my own country, I can say maybe something like 60% are taking it seriously but still one reckless person in a family is enough . we are getting close to the "new year " and people can't change their hobbit of shopping and "having fun" these days.
  11. Our wrestling federation says they received a letter from UWW, which says * Africa/Oceania qualification event will be held in Morocco in May * European QT will be in Hungary again in May * World last chance qualifier will be in Bulgaria in June as for Asia, their plan to find a host in April failed, they are still looking for a host but the date is most probably in May.
  12. that's weird, never saw a wrestler with goggles, I think goggles don't have sharp edges so it's probably no problem wearing them, but then UWW doesn't want any possible trouble in future, so it was probably easier for them rejecting any "new idea" like this. poor guy, I'm sure he feels he got robbed of his chance.
  13. Diego Simeone did that elbow thing with Klopp but then went on shaking hands with everybody else !!!
  14. qualified NOCs in other 2 weights Men's 68kg and Women's 57kg and Chile 2nd seed at 68kg lost to Pie of DOM but then the Chilean girl at 57kg made up for that by beating 2nd seed Carstens of Panama
  15. no surprise in first two weights, top 2 seeds qualified for the Olympics. Men's +80kg and Women's +67kg and
  16. I wonder if this Liverpool-Atletico match is the last UCL match we will see with spectators for a while
  17. this makes me laugh when I read some European countries are starting to ban travelers from China. sorry guys, that's what you should did couple months ago but the truth is right now China is safer than any European country. even South Korea is probably safer.
  18. Semifinals are set Women's +67kg vs vs Women's 57kg vs vs Men's 68kg vs vs Men's +80kg vs vs
  19. is there any livestream available ? but MasTkd has some kind of livescore system at least http://mastkd.com/resultados-maxtkd/clasificatorio-olimpico-americano-costa-rica-2020/ Edit: found a livestream here https://www.facebook.com/FCTCRC/?ref=hovercard
  20. thanks guys, even though that was a big load of information for me to handle just to make sure you didn't waste your time to educate me , for the rest of China it's surname + given name . but for those minorities it's given name + father name ? but they are mostly known just by their given names, right ? and the proper way to write their name is Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan, Maimaitituersun Qiong and Aihemaiti Maimaiti ? one last question, there is a Chinese female wrestler called simply Paliha. are there people in China with just one name ? btw naming system was also different and confusing in Iran long time ago but something like 100 years ago, the former dictator of Iran decided to force people to follow the western naming system. everybody had to pick a surname.
  21. so you call him Tanglatihan Tuohetaerbieke ? I mean the order. still the given name comes last like other Chinese names ? what about Maimaitituersun Qiong and other guy Aihemaiti Maimaiti ?
  22. @Vic Liu I have a habit of learning about naming system of all countries. I think everybody knows for normal Chinese names surname comes first. but I'm interested to know about some of your athletes with non-Chinese name, probably from Inner Mongolia ? or other parts of China. for example what do you call your 75kg guy ? TUOHETA ERBIEKE Tanglatihan ? or that veteran guy Qiong ? what's the given name and what's the surname ?
  23. I would love to know which Iranian minister said that exactly ? a name please I'm sure your know what the word "minister" means, ps: any random person is not a minister in Iran
  24. I think that's a bad news for the Iranian team, because the Madrid event is listed for 17-19 April. Iranian team is already in Europe for a month, they can't spend another month there. first because our federation most probably can't afford that financially, and second because from what I see most of them prefer to come back home and be with their families. and even if they come back to Iran, it's almost impossible for them to return to Europe. and i imagine some of them may have to come back AGAIN in May for the final QT in France. and there is no guarantee for these events to actually take place, imagine if they spend another month in Europe only to find out Spain cancelled the event in last minutes !
  25. well, 2 was my maximum expectation before the competition, so I can't complain and I don't but then watching Ahmadi-Safa losing that way kind of ruined it . even IOC commentators were convinced he was the winner but this is Boxing and I think we have to just accept it the way it is. but in general considering expectations it was a good tournament, boxing is almost dead here, personally I'm more happy for Danial Shahbakhsh, he comes from Sistan/Baloucheshtan next to Pakistani border which is by far less developed and poorest province in Iran, as far as I remember we never had an Olympian from that province.
