  1. Well... I've read countless line about "winning a silver/bronze medal"
  2. Apparently this World Cup generated quite an interest in Indonesia because.... we have an Indonesian referee
  3. And Nigeria crumbles... what a pity
  4. You can try livetv.sx/enx/allupcomingsports/3/
  5. Lol, the Chinese organizers used blackface in the opening
  6. There has been a push to include Tchoukball as a demonstration sport in SEA Games, but unfortunately they failed in 2019.
  7. That's why Turkmenistan exist, both venues and atmosphere are readily prepared by Berdy
  8. One gold each for 5 nations in badminton:
  9. If I have to choose one, I'd prefer the infrastructure over the atmosphere. For example, I'm quite ashamed with Indonesian Badminton Association official sometimes criticizes the organizers of international badminton tournaments in other parts of the world because they don't have the same hospitality or atmosphere like what it is in Indonesia. While they on the other hand provide a full-house venue with awful lighting, leaking roof that delayed the matches, and disgusting toilets for officials/athletes.
  10. So... Nigeria has many representatives in badminton finals. Let's see whether they really consistent like in the African Championships or not...
  11. Can't really blame the Moroccans though, 30 plus years without knowing or giving a damn to it.
  12. After claiming not ready for 2026 Commonwealth Games last year, suddenly the State of Selangor offers to be the main host if Malaysia proceed to bid. https://www.nst.com.my/sports/others/2019/08/516506/selangor-offers-be-main-host-if-malaysia-bids-2026-commonwealth-games
  13. In badminton it is in a further disarray. The Moroccan federation has internal conflicts (they send really weak players) and the results updated in the web is full of mistakes. And according to one African badminton expert, a retired player (one of the best Moroccan badminton player) suddenly found her name registered by the federation to participate lol
  14. Well not yet, it is not official until it is approved by the parliament. I don't think I will leave Jakarta, unless the city is suddenly overran by the religious fanatics. If that happen, relocating to the new capital (or somewhere near) will be much safer because the headhunting Dayaks will repel them from doing any disturbance there.
  15. And now Sindhu's in the final! Chen Yufei is drained after beating Blichfeldt yesterday... Finally a gold for Sindhu?
  16. To be honest I'm not that surprised with Sai Praneeth, his speedy attacking style is dangerous for those who rely on rallies before finishing the opponent. Yesterday Sai really exploit the weak part of Jonatan and with Jonatan having slight injury during the end of game 1, the result is clear. But Sindhu is really amazing. I think Kim Ji-hyun's guidance is starting to bear fruit.
  17. Lol yeah aerobic ftw, when Indonesians heard the word "senam" (gymnastics/body exercise), they will most likely explain about a bunch of middle-aged woman on weekends doing aerobics with tacky house music. Sometimes, they will also think about SKJ, the Indonesian adaptation of Japanese radio calisthenics. If it wasn't for Rifda Irfanaluthfi (and Asian Games 2018), most people won't bother to know more about the Olympic disciplines
  18. Two athletes retired after their exit at World Badminton Championships 2019: Rajiv Ouseph Oliver Schaller
  19. Two first seeds are out, let's see what will happen to the other first seeds...
  20. Just watched the ceremony... And I can't stop myself from talking about the Prince who disrupted the ceremony coverage (coming in the end of the parade hoping to come in just before Morocco, but the guys outside shaking his hands more times than usual - and finally the camera abruptly switched back to the stadium ). Then someone at the VIP box clapped thinking the African Union anthem has finished, before the prince caught in the middle of sitting to his chair when the announcement to keep standing for the Olympic Anthem The drone is cool but I don't think a famous guy playing jetski is worth projecting. Even Turkmenistan doesn't go that far in opening
  21. Riots in (West) Papua after an allegation of Papuan students breaking a flagpole and threw the Indonesian flag to a sewage ditch in Surabaya, East Java... The alleged flag in the sewage photo spread quickly in WhatsApp and FB. Later the Papuan Students Dorm in Surabaya (yes, it exists because no one really want to rent rooms for Papuan students) was surrounded by angry mobs plus members from ultra nationalist group. Also starring the I-don't-know-why-they-are-there Islamic Defenders Front supporters. Funny when a group that wants to change the nation's ideology so bad also take part in "defending the national symbol", perhaps crowds and riots attract them lol. Police forced their way to the dorm and arrested (but later released) the students. Unfortunately a viral video in WhatsApp about the incident enraged Papuans, where some people yelled "Monkeys!" and "Dogs!" to the arrested students. Even worse, hoaxes about a Papuan student got killed started overflowing in WhatsApp. And those in Papua started demonstration demanding police actions. Fortunately non-Papuans are not attacked, instead the local council building was burned. Papuan students in other province also voiced their concern with mass rallies. 3 viral WhatsApp posts = riot in 2 province
