  1. Overall 200/206 NOCs (including the refugee team) will compete in athletics. will not. I can't find the final missing nation.
  2. Weird, the list has Somalia in the men's 800m, but he isn't listed in the Road to Paris. Overall this means everyone is qualified.
  3. Interestingly enough since North Korea missed 2020 and over half the qualification period for 2024, they could become a tripartite nation for 2028. Maybe the IOC will make an exception, but they didn't for Kuwait
  4. Yeah, Lithuania will compete in the relay, it's just that they have to use their breaststroker.
  5. Things aren't looking good for there seems to be fighting between the NOC and the Sports Minister. If there isn't a resolution they may not compete.
  6. I guess those nations/athletes give the road race a higher priority. How does the men's side look?
  7. It's a way for sport federations to get around the athlete quota limit. Funny enough, for football the athletes don't even stay at the athlete's village so a team of 22 players vs. 18 won't make a difference.
  8. Correct, the IOC created quotas places to give to unqualified refugees.
  9. I feel 9/10 is pretty set unless the nation is completely snake-bitten and fails to win more than a few golds. At the very least, the nine should finish in the top 10 in terms of total medals. The tenth nation has a few options: maybe if they convert their chances into gold.
  10. We are down to our final direct qualifier. It all started about two years ago when qualified in triathlon at the 2022 World Mixed Relay Championships. The final quota will be between and in men's basketball.
  11. Spain has a nine point lead going into the final quarter
  12. takes the second quota. holds a decent lead against they just need to take it home.
  13. I can't speak for the other CONCACAF nations, but Canada took this tournament quite seriously. There was quite a bit of advertising for this tournament and the player's/management's attitude was this was the men's equivalent to the women's Olympic tournament.
  14. That first quarter was pretty much all Brazil. Latvia seems to have corrected itself and cut the lead going into the second half. Brazil still has a lot of work to do, especially in the third quarter to prevent the comeback.
  15. So happy for the team. is next. I dislike it when teams from the same group face again prior to the final. Especially for a 16-team tournament where this could have been avoided.
  16. It could be 15 if IJF didn't count AIN in its nation count
  17. Mixed team quotas and tripartite quotas are not split between genders so there was always a chance that more athletes from one gender will compete.
  18. So according to the event page. It looks like the tripartite quotas have been awarded, but I am unable to find the list...
  19. Does the men's/women's doubles entry appear for anyone else?
  20. I really wished was in a different group they could have had a chance, but I feel Spain is a bit too powerful.
  21. Yeah, I can understand why nations like New Zealand or South Africa decline continental quotas due to lack of competition, but any European that qualifies has earned the spot IMO.
