    They seem to have made a mess of the coverage here, but basically it is the same as an ITT in cross country skiing - you have to have commentators who know who the athletes are, multiple fixed points on the course to know who is gaining and losing time and plentiful graphics.

    All these games go back to monks in the Middle Ages who used to keep fit by putting leather gloves on their hands and hitting a hard leather ball like a baseball against a wall.     It's like Nordic Combined. Every few years they go on this kick wherein they introduce all sorts of new kinds of race formats, but once the Olympics come round it is back to the good old Gundersen again.

    It is basically just canoeing, so once you strip out all the extraneous stuff like drumming, any nation that has lots of strong canoe paddlers will be good at dragon boat. If anything it's even easier, because you don't have to worry about balance, which is crucial in canoeing.
