  1. China lost a super close call in men's slopestyle that a lot of people think they got wrong (the BBC claims to have spoken to one of the judges who said they missed Parrot's leg grab and that had they spotted it he wouldn't have won). So I really don't think this applies to these park and pipe events. To my eye Gu deserves the win.
  2. Just think about the bronze in ski jumping. Also, Oldham performed well today. Just wasn't enough because the level of the podium finishers was insane.
  3. The real hope is that it will convince the Alberta, BC, Ontario and federal governments to renovate the Calgary Olympic park jumps, renovate Big Thunder and create smaller training jumps in Whistler. Having places in Canada where you can even do the sport, both recreationally and later at an elite level, is even more important than funding the national team.
  4. I wouldn't sleep on Crawford in the Super G. He is stronger in Super G than in downhill, and his fourth place in downhill didn't really look like a fluke (he looked really good in both training runs).
  5. So, still reeling from this morning. To highlight the absurdity of the ski jumping medal - unless both short track relays medal and use their alternates in the heats or the men's hockey team medals, ski jumping will be the only sport where every Canadian at the games will have won a medal.
  6. Honestly this would have been an amazing result for Canada even without the disqualifications. Beating Czechia and Poland was really impressive for a tiny, underfunded program.
  7. Okay boys and girls, I don't think any of us are allowed to complain about bad luck the rest of these Olympics no matter what else happens from here on out. Because that medal used up, like, a century worth of luck.
  8. The mixed team events increased the diversity of nations winning medals :P
  9. We won a medal in mixed ski jumping but not mixed curling.
  10. I don't even care that this is complete BS. I didn't even dream of Canada winning a ski jumping medal in my lifetime.
  11. OMG Canada is in a reasonably strong position to win bronze in ski jumping with one jump left.
  12. French CBC commentator (Marianne St. Gelais) has been very… surprised by some of the officiating.
  13. I really appreciate making a mockery of the profoundly stupid false start rule the ISU insists on using.
  14. Is really going to finish fourth in SKI JUMPING too? FFS xD
  15. "The athlete [Prosvirnova] was violent, we don't need video replay to see she will be disqualified" French-Canadian commentators are a blunt bunch xD
  16. I feel like I should have learned to stop doubting that Wüst would win these kind of races at some point.
  17. Completely ridiculous, but hey if the Hungarian government wants to pay for me to have some entertaining swimming to watch I ain't going to complain too much. (Having worlds in 2022 isn't ridiculous, it's the January 2024 edition that is complete nonsense).
  18. Can't believe they played that game in Rogers Arena in front of a sold out 17k+ crowd, and it was even the thing CTV (the main TV network broadcasting the games) was showing. That must have been a wild experience for that Slovakian team, who I presume wasn't used to getting that kind of attention.
