  1. Pretty good tournament for North America :D
  2. is eating kangoroo for breakfast so far today. beats 22-14 in 3x3.
  3. Happy for Leski finally winning a major tournament, she's been close before.
  4. So close to a shock gold for
  5. When it's a bareling wave like here: how well you manage to get hidden into the barrel, how big of a drop into the barel you do, and how cleanly you come out. A quirk of surfing is that different beaks and different wave conditions get judged differently. Basically the judges are looking for something like this: big drop, surfer completly dissapears, surfer comes out cleanly and in control.
  6. What the hell? Best ever result for Canada in Olympic rugby. As we all totally expected :P
  7. Something I think we missed yesterday - Summer won Canada's 150th Olympic gold medal (across both summer and winter games)
  8. First one definitively did lean towards , and it would have been very reasonable for it to go that way. But like, if I was reffing I in real time (without the benifit of replay) I 100% would have called it simultane. It was genuinely a very close call.
  9. I thought the last touch in the men's foil final was... fine? I think got a bit hard done on the first simultaneous, but in real time I agreed with the call and you need to slow it down quite a bit for it to be apparent than had a slight advantage. Second simultaneous I think leaned for , and the hit that won gold was clearly theirs. Can't comment on any other hits though, other than the women's foil bronze medal match I didn't watch much of in fencing.
  10. Assuming they run the triathlon tomorow :P But ya, the triathlon is a wildcard and we also have some half chances in judo. I do think any one of them converting would be a good overall result.
  11. Well, very good day for , converted the three biggest medal chances, and won gold in the two events it was favoured to win gold in. I think winning a medal of any kind tomorow would be a big success, rugby obviously being the best shot. I personally don't really see any swimming medal happening tomorow, but always the chance that there is a surprise.
  12. Fencing has been so good these Olympics. What a way to end the individual events.
  13. Simultané at 14-14 of a gold medal bout is insane (and would have been my call as a very, very novice and rusty ref :P )
  14. Incredible heat between Bouukhiam and Chianca. Neither of them deserves to be eliminated in the Ro16.
  15. Really big turnaround compared to the disastrous Tokyo performance for the women's rugby team. Good to see.
  16. Didn't the ball clearly go out of bound one second after the end of the half in the match?
  17. Radio Canada is pretty uneven when it comes to the quality of the commentary, but their good commentators are very good. And they def do more homerism than CBC does (which is a bit contrary to the stereotype that Quebecois aren't patriotic - they sure are during the Olympics :P )
  18. I'm loving this shallow, slow pool. Who cares about world records when you can have good racing?
  19. Don't remind me, that previous Smith denied it's first summer Olympic gold in... suspect fashion :P
  20. Absolutely amazing race.
  21. A top six would be huge for the team. ...tbh just qualifying for the final was their win, every position above eighth is a win :D
