    Eh, has already won exactly as many fencing medals these Olympics than has ever won :P

    Fencing is one of my favourite sport, and one of the sport I've actually participated in. Just so amazing to see finally win a medal after some of those 4ths and close calls. Hopefully this will spur some growth in this beautiful sport in Canada. For me this medal is worth a lot.

    What an amazing performance for Leon Marchand. If he's not the biggest star for France these Olympics it's because someone else will have done something out of this world.

    Now official, Canada will finish no higher than 5th and no lower than 7th in the women's team qualification.

    Looks like is guaranteed to qualify in the gymnastics women's team final now.

    narrowly (by a matter of millemetres) maintains their perfect record in the women's team event.

    Outside medal chance, but I suspect eliminated in the quarterfinals.

    And the day ends with Sanoa Dempfle-Olin failing to advance directly to round 3. She will compete again in round 2 tomorow. She got close to a big wave a couple times but just couldn't nail it in the end.

    Eh, you get used to it. It's a very good sport to just have in the background while doing something else tbh. Not really a sport that requires your full attention most of the time.

    Fares Arfa actually came the closest to defeating the sabre gold medalist Oh Sang-uk. Extremely impressive performance, bummer that it didn't lead to a medal but still, chapeau.

    Really happy to see Matt King win a gold medal (as a prelim swimmer in the men's 4x100m free). He's from just up the road from where I live.

    Hopefully this will be a good learning opportunity for the Canadian team. They showed a lot of grit closing the game out, but they shouldn't have let Greece come back. It was a very entertaining game

    Really impressive rebuild for . I would say having this final on day one in Stade de France was an inspired decision. This will be one of the defining moment of the Olympics and should create a lot of energy.
