    Amazing how well Popovici is doing given his (relative) small size. It will be fun to watch him develop because he could very well get even much better.

    Part of me wonders if this is being floated to soften the blow when / if the IOC cuts the number of men’s nordic combined quotas in half.

    Also looks like the bid is officially “British Columbia 2030”, not “Vancouver 2030”.

    Vancouver 2030 released the first version of it’s venue plan. Very similar to 2010 with the following changes: * Cypress Mountain is out as a venue. The bulk of freestyle events would move to Sun Peaks near Kamloops (in the BC interior) with Big Air in Vancouver proper. * Curling would move to a small arena near Hastings Park (same area as Pacific Coliseum, host for figure skating and short track, and big air)

    Ya the Russian work ethic is so dominant the last time they lost a world championship (that they attended) was in the far away year of… 2018. It’s also really weird how all of Eteri’s girls seem to lost their “work ethic” between the age of 16 and 19. I think it will be very good for figure skating if this leads to women’s skaters having longer careers, regardless of whether or not Eteri skaters continue to dominate.

    I find the need for two bronze medal matches in mixed team events baffling to say the least.

    Guns used for Olympic sports shooting are already exempt from much of Canada’s gun laws and that hasn’t helped.

    My personal idea is one 20m 5v5 OT, followed if needed by a 10m 4v4 OT and a 10m 3v3 OT. Then shootout (which would hopefully not come up).
