  1. Yeah I'm passing on the ceremonies. Don't think it's worth the money. I'll stick to the sports haha.
  2. Awesome story! Always cool to meet Olympians. I’ve gotten to meet 2 Olympians thanks to my old job. They don’t get much fanfare unless it’s an Olympic year so they always seem to be really friendly. PS I’m jealous of your quads & the weather down there lol
  3. The LA28 X account posted that events technically aren’t “sold out”. They just haven’t released the full batch of tickets for that event yet. So gymnastics/ceremony tickets could be available in future ticket drops.
  4. Yeah we are definitely the best at funding women's sports at that all started at the NCAA level after Title IX. That was probably the most impactful piece of legislation that has ever passed related to sports. USA has and will continue to push boundaries in women's sport like no other nation.
  5. Ugly result. They played well in the first half. Made some subs and our lack of depth compared to Belgium showed. The bright side: now we know which players can be competitive against a top 10 team in the world and which players are totally out of their league competing against a top 10 team in the world.
  6. Some names are familiar for me like Colin Duffy, Sam Watson and Brooke Raboutou. But, do you think the LA28 team will be made up of a mix of these athletes? Anybody on this roster that I should pay attention to as a casual sport climbing observer?
  7. Thanks for the tips!! Yes, I heard seeing more obscure sports is a good strategy for finding cheaper tickets. I'm going to avoid any sport I can see at home (baseball, basketball, soccer, golf). I have a list of events that I would LOVE to see and a secondary list of events that are my plan B. Hoping everything works out even though I know I won't be able to see everything I want to.
  8. As long as they are not as outrageous as the FIFA World Cup tickets...
  9. Excited to see how our men’s soccer team looks this week vs two really good opponents. Huge opportunity coming this summer at the World Cup!
  10. These are the teams I think will qualify for the WC this window: Hoping for some debutants to qualify!
  11. Jessie Diggins competed in her final race today (placing 12th). She won the Crystal Globe for finishing the World Cup season with the most points! What a career!!
  12. Day 3 news & notes for USA at the World Indoor Championships Anna Hall wins silver in the women's pentathlon with a SB! Allie Jones DNF. Jasmine Moore & Monae Nichols finished 7th & 8th in the women's long jump. Jordan Geist grabbed silver & Roger Steen took bronze in men's shot put! Josh Awotunde finished 6th. Jessica Mercier finished 9th & Chloe Timberg finished 12th in women's pole vault. Nathan Green finished 6th in the men's 1500m final. In the men's long jump, Jeremiah Davis finished just off the podium in 5th while Steffin McCarter finished in 12th. Nikki Hiltz won bronze in the women's 1500m! Gracie Morris finished 7th. Youngster Cooper Lutkenhaus won GOLD in the men's 1500m! He is somebody to watch for LA28. Addison Wiley took bronze in the women's 1500m final! In the women's 60m hurdles, Alia Armstrong finished 6th in the final. Danae Dyer was eliminated in the semifinals. Team USA won gold in both the men's 4x400m relay and women's 4x400m relay! Team USA won more gold medals (7) and total medals (20) than any other nation at the World Indoor Championships!
  13. Congrats to Diggins winning the WC in her final season
  14. USA won the final, although it was a bit more competitive. Main takeaway from this evening: we need to send Team USA to LA28. Sorry NFL.
  15. Yeah the NFL teams are having real troubles on defense. USA has scored on every possession in their two games. We better send Team USA to LA28.
  16. Yeah we should be the favorites obviously. I know we are only one game in, but this event is telling me that we need to send Team USA to have the best chance at winning gold. A team full of NFL stars would generate a lot of buzz, but I doubt they will end up performing better than Team USA.
  17. Halftime of Team USA vs Wildcats. USA has a 19-6 lead. Not a surprise, but the Wildcats are really struggling on defense, especially pulling the flags. USA's offense looks way more smooth as well. Good start for USA.
  18. Day 2 news & notes for USA at the World Indoor Championships Heath Baldwin wins silver & Kyle Garland takes bronze in the men's heptathlon! Baldwin set a PB. Garland set a SB. Both Americans made it all the way to the men's 60m Hurdles final. Trey Cunningham won bronze while Dylan Beard finished 6th. Jacious Sears wins silver in the women's 60m! The other American, Jaslyn Gardner was eliminated in round 1. USA took 5th place out of 6 teams in the Mixed 4x400m Relay. In the women's 800m, Addison Wiley advanced to the final after finishing 2nd in her semifinal race. Cooper Lutkenhaus is through to the men's 800m final, but Sean Dolan missed out on advancing. Zechery Bradford finished 5th in the men's pole vault (5.95m) & Christopher Nilsen finished 9th (5.70m). Duplantis had 6.25m and finished 1st of course lol. Khaleb McRae wins silver in the men's 400m! Chris Robinson finished just off the podium in 4th. Emily Mackay wins silver in the women's 3000m! Margot Appleton finished 14th. Cole Hocker takes home silver in the men's 3000m! Yared Nuguse finished just off the podium in 5th. Jasmine Moore finished 7th & Ryann Porter finished 16th in the women's triple jump.
  19. Big weekend for flag football. The Fanatics Flag Football Classic will be from 4 p.m. ET to 8:30 p.m. ET on FOX. It will be at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, the stadium that will host Olympic flag football. There will be three teams - Team USA Flag Football - Founders FFC - Wildcats FFC Founders FFC is captained by Tom Brady and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts with Sean Payton of the Broncos as the head coach. Wildcats FFC is captained by Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels with Kyle Shanahan of the 49ers as the head coach. Both the Founders & Wildcats will feature a roster full of NFL stars, and Logan Paul and IShowSpeed are playing for some reason (eye roll). The teams will play a round robin with the championship game at 7 p.m. ET. The games will be in Olympic format, so it will be a nice peak as to what flag football will look like at LA28. This also could have big implications when it comes to which players will be on the team in LA28. Will it be Team USA flag football? A roster of NFL stars that are relatively unfamiliar with the sport? A mix of both? We shall see!
  20. Day 1 news & notes for USA at the World Indoor Championships Kyle Garland & Heath Baldwin in 2nd & 3rd respectively after 4/7 events in the men's heptathlon Both Americans made the men's 60m final: Trayvon Bromell & Jordan Anthony. Anthony won gold with a time of 6.41. Bromell took bronze with 6.45. The two Americans in the women's 400m failed to reach the final. Bailey Lear got eliminated in the semifinals. Rosey Effiong got eliminated in Round 1. One American in the women's high jump - Charity Hufnagel. She finished 9th of 11 athletes. The two Americans in the men's 400m made the final: Chris Robinson & Khaleb McRae. In the women's 800m, Addison Wiley advanced to the semifinals, but Valery Tobias was disqualified. Sean Dolan and Cooper Lutkenhaus both advanced to the semifinals in the men's 800m. Chase Jackson won gold in the women's shot put with a throw of 20.14m. Abria Smith finished 7th. Nikki Hiltz & Gracie Morris advanced to the women's 1500m final. Nathan Green is through to the men's 1500m final. Luke Houser just missed out on advancing. Russell Robinson finished 11th out of 16 athletes in the men's triple jump.
  21. Thompson 2nd? Bromell 3rd?
  22. Exactly, but I know isn't a great handball team. They've never made the Olympics before. But, still good for us to hang with them.
  23. I have no idea how good is but I'll take it lol
  24. Fair. I follow a bit of everything pro and college sports are just so ingrained into the culture in Michigan that it's hard to not pay attention. We have a team in the four major pro sports leagues + 2 very high-profile colleges. March Madness is fun, but it kind of dies out for me after the first weekend. The fun is mostly had in the first few days when there are big upsets by schools you've never heard of beating big teams. Plus, it's non-stop basketball on the first few days, which is fun.
