  1. Wawrinka leading Dimitrov, easy upset prediction. Dimi is not top 10 level currently.
  2. For me the line is drawn depending on where the athlete was developed in his/her sport. If x country didn't have anything to do with the formation as an athlete of the person in question then for me that country is feeding from the system of another country. With this criteria for example Duplantis is (or should have been) american, while someone like Mo Farah is clearly british.

  4. I would tolerate better if it were like that, but still, something just doesn't feel right. It's an industry that works perfectly fine by itself and IOC would have to deal with the corporate interests of all those gaming companies, which could pervert everything that olympics are supposed to stand for... also, would the best esports players even care about playing for free? we don't want another football/baseball-like cashgrab at the prime sport event in the world.
  5. Esports stream has much more views than all other channels combined lol. The sad part is that almost all people watching probably don't care about anything else in the asian games. Really hoping this isn't the future of multisport games, but money will likely say yes...
  6. Ok, the IOC doesn't really make the rules then... I mean, FIFA can decide this by themselves, FIH allowed us to play both hockey tournaments which shouldn't be allowed to the host nation... who knows.
  7. We have the first draw of a team sport, and it's futsal: Boys Group A - Group B - Girls Group C - Group D - Apparently Brazil rejected the girls quota last minute. Wikipedia says it was because "they chose to compete in boys futsal" but that makes no sense because in beach handball, rugby and field hockey there are some nations that will play both genders! plus, Brazil didn't qualify for any other girl team sport, so they aren't binded by the "only one team sport for each gender" rule that all countries except us have to follow. The same happened to Iran girls, is there some special rule for futsal that I don't know about?
  8. Seems like Chile has a decent chance for a medal in an olympic event (C2 500 women).
  9. I know that, I meant "insane" for the majority of swimmers. The drugs/inhuman training regime are starting to take their toll...
  10. WOW what a "poor" performance from Li. It's really weird because her time in the 1500 was insane.
  11. The wtf was about the "killed all opponents" or something like that. I know very well that she stole money. Anyway, the central point is that you used it as some sort of weird argument against giving too much freedom to women, which is ridiculous because there are thousands of examples of male politicians that were many times worse. Gender has nothing to do with being corrupt.
  12. The last one? omg, are you really that deluded?
  13. Islamic conquest of Persia: VII century. Islamic revolution: 1979. So... no, don't worry that Europe will be like that in "the next century". Anyway, I don't accept the premise that "Islam = oppresive regime and lifestyle" as a start but meh, in this forum everyone is a xenophobic right winger lately so I have to follow that logic to discuss this.
  14. Because people like konig believe that islam is inherently anti-human rights, anti-liberal democracy, western values in general, etc. So they are afraid that muslims end up "conquering" the west via migration. Such people fully believe in the old "clash of civilizations" hypothesis basically.
  15. Except futsal all those sports have been in many editions. It's 100 times more serious than this "get in 10 new sports which nobody but 2 countries play" you see at asian games. There will not be that much inflation of events, it's mostly in karate, taekwondo and surf which are under represented (number of events wise) at the olympics anyway.
  16. That is the one point where pan american games are still much more serious than this: all the olympic events are respected and regional sports are just a handful and consistently featured (host nation can't insert or remove stuff at will).
  17. Italy was silver in last youth wch of beach handball while futsal will have a pretty strong field, so even winning any medal would be difficult. The election makes sense.
  18. What an interesting contest, we have to guess what the producers and script writers of WWE have in mind.
  19. I'm puzzled, how can a country with the weather of Norway be good at beach volleyball but suck at indoor?
  20. Japan is qualified but if they win the quota doesn't go to 2nd place, it's added to world qualifiers.
  21. men: India 80%, Pakistan 10%, Malaysia 5%, Korea 5% Women: India 40%, China 30%, Korea 20% Japan 10%
  22. Also it will be hosted in Europe forever and ever (let's be honest, late season is all in Europe so this won't go anywhere else).
  23. Medal table is not interesting to guess because there are several joke sports played in just 2 countries and they distort everything but anyway: chn, jpn, kor, kaz, tha, uzb, iri, ind, ina, tpe My favorite sports will be all which give olympic quota and kabaddi, because it's awesome I support
  24. The u20 championship of next year won't be the qualification event for conmebol. A special u23 competition to be played in Colombia in 2020 will award the quotas for OG.
  25. There were separate threads at 2015 pan am if i remember well. It's just that we used the main thread to comment a lot (but mostly about the progress of medal table).
