With the Group Stage done in the final stop of the Challenger Series season, we know majority of the teams qualified to LA to play for the promotion to the 2025-26 SVNS.
In the Men`s, , and qualified to the SF so therefore they are also qualified for LA. The 4th spot will be between and . The points difference is 2 points in favour of Chile, but Samoa qualified for the SF and Chile not. If the points awarded in this tournament is the same as the rest of the other events (its not clear yet), will need a 2 position advantage, meaning that if they win one of the two matches they have tomorrow they will go to LA, or if they lose both matches and Chile lose at least one out of the two. In the case Samoa lose both and Chile wins both, there would be a tie (and i dont know the criteria there really).
In the Women`s, , and qualified to the SF so therefore they are also qualified for LA. The 4th spot will be between and . Colombia has the huge advantage with a 8 points difference. Thailand qualified for the SF. This means that needs a 4 position difference for a tie and 5 to win. If wins their first match tomorrow and not, qualifies. In case wins too, the next match of each team is crucial, Thailand needs to win and Colombia to lose.

My not so brief take on the program:
I would have to see 4x100 medley in swimming removed from the program. Still I think we need more quotas for every event. Glad to see women's water polo expanded to 12 teams. Please remove women's artistic team and just leave a 24 women's and 12 mixed duets in the program; their quotas given to Open Water and Diving. I'm glad they decided to add the mixed compound events, but at the same time I'm afraid that would take the recurve teams to be contested by only 8 teams per gender, or even try a 2 person team format of which I'm not a fan. Great another change at the Race Walk events and another mixed relay that serves for nothing, FUCK YOU COE!!!! Good thing they expanded 3x3 basketball tournaments, but 16 or 20 teams per gender would have been better. Boxing with less than 20 competitors per event is a complete miss. Canoe sprint distances still doesn't make any sense, particularly women's C1. Just drop the idiocy that is Kayak Cross and bring back the C2 boats. BMX quotas in both racing and freestyle should be raised to 20 and 32 respectively. For God's sake, ¿couldn't they have 36 places for each event in fencing? And please add an extra place for the "reserve" in team events. Keep football tournaments at 12 teams per gender, add 3 players to each roster. Golf should have its quota droped to 48 per gender; tired of seing top players just refusing to attend the Olympics; plus it would really save some time from the long daily schedule. And make the mixed team a separate event with a direct face-off format. ¿Mixed team in artistic gymnastics? Watanabe should stop taking those pills. And since there are now more specialists per apparatus, then please distribute the quotas according to the individual events. Increase the number of individual gymnasts in rhytmic gymnastics and in trampoline gymnastics. Drop mixed team from judo. Modern pentathlon is sure to be axed sure; not only the insist in the "ninja warrior" format, but they cut the number of quotas. Pathetic. Glad to see lightweights in rowing gone, but I would say that a double sculls beach sprint per each gender should been a better option than singles and mixed sculls. Make the air pistol and rifle open events, as the level of men and women is similar. Then drop the mixed teams, and bring back the prone rifle and 50m pistol for men, plus a similar event of the later for women. ¿Could some one explain why do we need Park & Street events in skateboard? Leave the most visually attractive in with 30 quotas per gender, distribute the others. Glad to see they dropped that silly combined format for sports climbing, but they should add more quotas. Go for 32 quotas per gender for surfing. Leave out that mixed team in table tennis. Please, just please, add two more weight classes in tae kwon do or just drop it from the program, Increase beach volley to 32 teams per gender. Stop belittling weightlifting and wrestling, they both need an increase in athlete numbers. Increase general athlete quota to 11200, but without considering the temporary additional sports. -

They could take the quata limitation of 10500 and do a switch between those numbers in bold and bam, you got enough quotas for plenty of other things , it’s just a bad starting point for things like compund to be on the expense of other instead of just getting x amount of quotas and then a place

Ah yes, today was the dreaded "IOC news day"... As usual there is barely anything to smile at.
Men's boxing losing more weights is absurd, especially since their "gender parity agenda" is out of the window after switching the football.
Swimming getting the 50s in an already bloated program was sadly inevitable. With US and AUS the next hosts, I'm surprised swimming doesn't have 100 events to begin with.
All the new mixed stuff is Frankenstein as usual, especially the tennis and gymnastics. No one asks for these, even within these sports, but the IOC only care about "Let's have all the stars interact more with each other for maximum TV talk and social engagement, who cares about sporting traditions".
Climbing splitting the events is a positive, though for me personally I didn't see any problem with the combined. It actually showed the true overall best climbers, while now the specialists in one event will get more chances to sneak a medal.
Host sports with 6 teams are a joke and shouldn't award medals! Have them as exhibition events with a trophy etc. for the winners, but shouldn't be included in the medal table. But what do I know.
And still no news on the most important thing for me - extending the Games to 3 full weeks. Things will be crammed, crammed again..

Well now's time for a little summary of my experience attending Stop 1.
Overall it was a nice experience, my first time visiting that venue in particular. It brought me some memories from my time at 2011 PanAm Games, seeing athletes from many countries. Now the venue is kind of dated, and it really needs some serious maintenance. For me it was unacceptable that the restrooms for the general public were in poor conditions, and also some sections need a fresh layer of paint, not to mention the heavy layer of dust in the ceiling. Thank God no debris fall in to the pool or on the spectators, but you may see a couple of pigeons continually flying around the swimming complex, even disrupting Mark Hrytsenko's last dive in 10m platform, before being sent away by Ruslan Ternovoi.
there was a pretty large number of Chinese fans on Saturday that came to support their team with flags & banners; however, their overall conduct was very poor, most of them crossing into the "top section" denying people who paid those tickets their rightful seats, ignoring and even shoving the few security elements at the venue and disrupting the general silence by replaying videos with loud sound or standing to take pictures while the divers were competing. Not that the Mexican fans were better; at times they were very disrespectful, particularly with divers preceding local competitors, since the cheered very loudly, ignoring the results (whether bad or good) of the former.
Among my personal highlights was the fact I had the opportunity to meet the Cuevas twins, who won a silver in 3m synchro and with only 14 are considered our next big stars in this sport, and also two time Olympic medalist in 10m synchro Alejandra Orozco, who was very active during the event, often oversawing and helping in any way needed, not to mention very kind and attentive to anyone asking for a photo. Also in attendance was Olympic figure skater Donovan Carrillo, whom I also asked for a photo.
I had an opportunity to see Maddison Keeney at the small cafeteria after winning a bronze in 3m synchro; she was very polite and gracious, accepting to take photos even when she needed to take a break and finish her sandwich; that same day I ran into Moritz Wesemann on my way back to my seat after getting a beer, and on the last day I almost bumped into Jack Laugher (he was going "incognito" mode while trying to decide what to grab from the food carts outside the main building).
So in general, I had a pleasant experience and would love to attend another event in the future. To top it off, there was a brief take of me during Sunday's men's 3m finals on WA stories, which of course I've already downloaded for keeps. I hope to find some time to upload some of the pictures I took; not the ones with me & above mentioned athletes since I'm not to photogenic, but of the few photos of the competition and the practice time that I find are worthy.
