  1. The sports programme for 2028 Summer Olympics in LA has been officially released https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/Olympic-Games/LA28/Official-Programme-of-the-Olympic-Games-Los-Angeles-2028.pdf What do you guys think from POV ? @Fly_like_a_don @Siddhartha Talukdar @nitinsanker @Prashanth I feel the addition of compound archery albeit in mixed team event will be a welcome addition for us. Also the TT events in men’s & women’s doubles will be better us. Eagerly awaiting when each sports federation release their qualification Documents. Cricket with 6 slots will be intresting. It’s only mid 2025 but the road to LA starts now !
  2. It was always going to be difficult for IOC to get new events in & stick to their 10,500 limit. I wish they could have increased it to 12,000 but they did find a way out by limiting the quota to core sports ONLY. I see that as a very positive & well thought out by both LOC & IOC. I have mixed feelings on these changes but overall can’t complain much as it could have been worse. The good part: 1. Compound Archery will be a great addition to the programme albeit only in mixed team event. Sadly this means losing quotas from Recurve, which will make the qualification process more challenging. 2. TT events : Getting the doubles event is an excellent call plus we have a team event too . The men’s & women’s team events were so predictable. This 3 format will throw up opportunities & surprises . Most importantly it will add to the viewing experience as matches are expected to be tighter & shorter. 3. Basketball 3x3 is a growing sport & increasing the number of teams is certainly the right call. It was expected. 4. Sport climbing : The programme looks complete now & again on expected lines. The OK part: 1. Boxing : Keeping the total quota places same & increasing a single weight class in women’s event was expected. 2. Additional swimming events : Considering the hosts for the next two olympics are swimming dominant nations. This was expected. 3. Mixed Golf : This is a good idea & will be an intresting event to watch. The Bad part: 1. Football : if you are so worried about maintaining the quota limit why not just make both events a 12 team one. I can understand the reduction in men’s but increase the women’s team event. 2. Athletics : This change doesn’t make much sense. Perhaps an additional 🥇 for . Why would you take away a race walking event only to replace it with another track event. 3. Tennis : I don’t like this idea of mixed team , XD was a better format for me. 4. Gymnastics: A mixed team event will not add anything to the programme. Perhaps again a lot to do with the LOC than FIG or IOC.
  3. Excellent suggestion & perhaps the most logical one. I think IOC & ICC will approve on a similar format. I would just tweak it a little bit. I won’t give a guaranteed host quota but allot 2 quotas in Americas-Africa qualifying tournament. Also Europe will have 1 fixed quota from their qualifying tournament. So , it will be 1 - 2016 T20 world champions 2&3 - Asian- Oceania qualifying tournament 4&5 - Americas-Africa qualifying tournament 6- European qualifying tournament
  4. https://sportstar.thehindu.com/other-sports/india-2030-commonwealth-games-2036-olympics-bid-submission-ahmedabad-details/article69357977.ece/amp/ has officially submitted an expression of Interest to host the 2030 Commonwealth games in Ahmedabad. The CWG federation will now evaluate the bid & decide on hosting rights
  5. Neeraj Chopra finished 2nd in the Diamond league finals. He will have his groin surgery in the off season. Yet another successful season for Neeraj By finishing 2nd he pocketed $12000 a nice way to end his season. Hopefully he has a successful surgery & starts his rehab for the 2025 season, targeting the 2025 world championships
  6. A good performance from Neeraj Chopra finishing 2nd considering he is not 100% fit & will have a groin surgery in off season. A nice purse of $12000 for his efforts Congratulations to Peters for winning the Diamond league & concluding a very successful season with another close fought battle with Chopra.
  7. Sumit Antil wins 🥇 in Javelin Throw F64 category with new PR 70.59m This is our 3rd 🥇 in Paris Paralympics.
  8. Wow Slovan Bratislava are through to the Group/league phase of the Champions league @hckošice is that a first for a Slovak club?
  9. By finishing in top 3 Anderson Peters Neeraj Chopra & Julian Webber have all qualified for the Diamond League Finals. Jakub Vadlejch had already qualified . The top 4 Men’s Javelin throwers have all made it to the DL finals.
  10. Bakhodir Jalolov (Amateur Boxing) PR Sreejesh ( Field Hockey) Taha Akgul (FS Wrestling) Aiaal Lazarev ( FS Wrestling)
  11. My boy , Bandito . He loves going to the beach . He is 3 years old
  12. Table Tennis is getting much more competitive. Sweden & France had a great Olympics. There is always Japan Korea & Germany. China may have won all 5 golds but the sport is getting more competitive especially for the minor medals. Soon like with Badminton, TT will become a lot more competitive & will see a number of countries competing for medals.
  13. had a below average olympics so not many positive moments but if I had to pick one it would be Vinesh defeating Yui Susaki in the last secs of the bout. That was a genuinely WOW! moment for me. As for Paris & the Olympics in general, the biggest positive was to see packed crowds at almost all venues ( particularly after Tokyo) & continuous chanting of “ Allez les bleus” supporting the french athletes.
  14. I am glad I found this forum of sports enthusiasts from around the world . It has become a big part of my daily routine So many knowledgeable sports fans sharing their insights & information in a single place is like a gold mine for me. Thanks to all the users & admins for keeping Totallympics so active I will deffo be part of this family & road to LA28 starts from today
