Didn't go for the New Years run today BTW, which felt like the right decision as my 5km yesterday felt way tougher than it should (damn you Christmas food). Did however manage to do 10k just before christmas, so I guess I'll be ready in time for the 10km race I'm considering (jan 26) The only other official race so far I'm considering is a 5 or 10 km in the next town over (15-20 minutes by bike). A certain Brazilian biathlete very much wants to run the 10k there and try and get a medal on Dutch soil, if I run as well I'll do the 5k only If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! All they want is to conquer the world? I'm planning for that one and maybe another of the Winter Races (it's a series of 4) and most likely a 16km about a month before the half. Jinzha 529 Posted December 31, 2019 #113 Share Posted December 31, 2019 I ran 30km to close out the year with my running club last sunday. Great end of year tradition! I was surprised at how well it went after not training as much as I'm used to the past few months. hckošice
heywoodu 13,560 Posted January 4, 2020 #114 Share Posted January 4, 2020 @brunamoura utterly destroyed the competition in the 10k at the New Year's Run in the tiny next town over https://uitslagen.nl/uitslag?id=2020010450888 I ran the 5k and stayed a little above 26 minutes, which I'm happy with considering I had never run a significant distance on anything but asphalt before (and at least 3,5km of this lap was on pretty damp and sandy forest paths). brunamoura, OlympicIRL and hckošice 2 1 If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Agger 1,591 Posted January 4, 2020 Author #115 Share Posted January 4, 2020 Did 6,5k (may be a few 100m shorter as my phone isn't the most precise on that point) in just about 33 minutes. Much better than the 5k that I did the 30th, but the 10k is still a bit away (even though today's pace was faster than what I would do for a 10k). But a very satisfying test before the real training starts monday. OlympicIRL, heywoodu and hckošice
Agger 1,591 Posted January 19, 2020 Author #116 Share Posted January 19, 2020 Managed to do my first half marathon this week... Well, three runs this week at 23,7km at total. Now I just have to be able to do it in one run But generally things are moving on very well with my first 10km of the year tuesday and 8 km today. Next 10 coming up in a week where I've registered for my first race of the year. heywoodu

I was going for 9k in 54 minutes last Wednesday (increasing my 6:00/km endurance with 1km per week, then I'll end up with exactly the half marathon total on 4 April), but managed to push out 10km in a bit over 59 minutes Next Wednesday the challenge is 11k in 1:06, let's see. Yup. So far the focus has been on getting to the 10km and next week will also be focusing on that race, but then it's about slowly putting on more distance. I am considering going for a 5:30-pace sunday, but I'll make the decision after the next couple of runs (tuesday's 10km was 5:13-pace, but once again I don't trust the GPS completely). I feel like I'm slightly ahead of you in terms of distance, but you are definitely ahead in terms of pace.
