in the end, the Italian girls, almost not existing through the entire season, today did better than the men...and not because they got some results beyond any expectation...:whistle::facepalm:

what a sadness to see our CC skiing team so boiled if compared with 10/20 years ago...:cry:

I feel you ...

It makes me really sad that tax money is wasted on cross-country/speed skating, would be much better to completely shut down the financing for those sports.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

by the way, the prize for the best comments of these Worlds so far goes to Devon Kershaw and his yesterday's analysis before the Cross-Country stint of the Nordic Combined...:whistle:

he didn't get any of his "favourites" even close to the result he predicted...:lol::facepalm:

That really does not even get close to him saying Johaug would do the 5km classic race 6-7 minutes faster than the winner of said qualifying race :p

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

well, he said that Riiber would have won yesterday's race with margin (despite being more than a minute behind the leading group after the jumping phase) and no Austrians could even make the top 10 (despite 2 of them were in that leading group with big margin after jumping -and an easy not-difference-maker track in CC ahead of them)...

plus a couple more of those...

basically, he was speaking of Nordic Combined without having any sort of clue of the scale of values of that sport (and the different characteristics of the athletes involved)...:facepalm:

it looked like the average Italian public Tv "sport expert"...:rofl::nopompom:

Winning time of the 5km C: 15:57 minutes --> 18.8 km/h

Speed needed to be 7 minutes faster (8:57): 33.5 km/h

That is 0.6 km/h faster than the average speed of the winner in the men's sprint freestyle qualifying. Saying Johaug can keep that pace for 5km, in classic style, is arguably pretty much worse than saying some not so smart predictions about Nordic combined, which was not even his sport, unlike XC :p
