Your entry took me right home, from which I've been mostly away in the past few years.

That part "And I even miss your rain..." couldn't be more ironic since my hometown has more yearly rain than London.

I'm happy to know that this song really spoke to someone else. When I was in my early 20s, I was so convinced that I would make my life elsewhere than Switzerland. I had that will to leave and go live elsewhere. I thought that elsewhere might be Australia as I went there on a working-holiday visa and thought I might not come back to Switzerland for a long time, if ever. Well, life has a funny way of teaching you to know better haha. After 2 months in Australia (different places), I felt homesick and came back to where is definitely "home" :)

When I heard this song it brought me back to those years and this is also why I decided to present it for the contest.

  2. Hi everyone,

I know the contest has just been closed, I'm a little late. But I couldn't be there yesterday as I anticipated before confirming Switzerland's participation and I would like to say a few things.

First of all, auguri all'Italia :ITA One of my 2 blood-countries winning makes me super proud:yes

Second, WOW, finishing just shy of 100pts is SUPER DUPER AMAZING! Being temporarily in the Top5 and even Top3 is more than I had imagined! I'm glad so many of you liked Eliane, whom I just discovered looking for Switzerland's entry in this contest. She really has a great voice.

And third, I would like to thank the nations that have voted for Switzerland. Thank you Algeria (11pts), India (10pts), Azerbaijan & Indonesia (9pts), Germany & Russia (8pts), Lithuania (5pts), Brazil & Ireland & Romania (3pts), Bulgaria & Malta (2pts) and Italy (1pt).

Last but not least, a HUGE. No, IMMENSE thank you from the bottom of my heart to Croatia:CRO ( @dcro ) & Netherlands :NED ( @heywoodu ) for awarding 12 POINTS to Switzerland

Obrigado @vinipereira and Brazil for hosting this year's TISC :cheer:

EDIT PS: Great Britain's song hit directly into my soul, hence my 12pts.

Blue Jays achieved their 1st victory of the season , after defeating Yankees 5-3 with a homer of solarte in 8th inning :yes

And Pillar who stole 3 bases (2nd, 3rd and home) in ONE inning

After a rusty start, the last 2 games of the Blue Jays and Dodgers were fun to watch!

And Happ starting the season with a HR, awesome! Even more because he was on my fantasy team haha! But I traded him for Moncada.

  4. A lot of good pitchers made their season debuts yesterday.

    • Terrible start of Spring Training for Nola: 2IP, 4H, 3ER, 3K.
    • Bumgarner's start wasn't much better: 1.2IP, 4H, 2ER, 5K. The Giants lost 10-12 to the Cubs
    • Greinke was a little sharper: 1.2IP, 3H, 1ER, 0K
    • Scherzer was good: 2IP, 1H, 1ER, 3K
    • Kershaw was perfect: 1IP, 0H, 0ER, 0K

That being said, the Dodgers still lost 0-2 to the Mariners and the Blue Jays lost a second day in a row to the Tigers, 3-6.

Only 3 games on TV tonight BUT Ohtani might be in the Angels' lineup as a hitter! I'll watch if that's the case. If not, I'll put the Brewers on:

19:05 Mets @ Astros (Syndergaard vs Verlander / nice pitching matchup)

21:05 Indians @ Brewers (Tomlin vs Guerra)

21:10 Angels @ Padres (Skaggs vs Lyles)

  5. The draw in Acapulco is STACKED!!!

    Notable first round matchups

    Rublev vs Ferrer

    Nishikori vs Shapovalov

    Possible notable second round matchups

    Chung vs Sock

    Mannarino vs Anderson

    Del Potro vs Rublev/Ferrer

    Thiem vs Nishikori/Shapovalov

Isner vs Schwartzman (who oddly enough plays Verdasco in the first round, whom he just beat yesterday in Rio's final )

  6. In the end, Ohtani threw 31 pitches, didn't make it out of the 2nd inning (the plan was for him to throw 2 innings) and gave up a HR to Broxton of the Brewers. But the Angels ended up winning 6-5 anyway. The Blue Jays lost 4-5 to the Tigers and the split-squad Dodgers lots 4-8 to the Royals and 3-9 to the Giants.

    Today's televised games:

    19:05 Braves @ Nationals (Kazmir - Scherzer)

19:05 Orioles @ Red Sox (Ynoa - Johnson)

    19:05 Astros @ Cardinals (Cole - Mikolas)

    19:05 Yankees @ Phillies (Montgomery - Nola)

    19:05 Rays @ Twins (Snell - Gibson)

19:07 Tigers @ Blue Jays (Boyd - Happ)

    19:10 Marlins @ Mets (Cloyd - Gsellman)

    21:05 Cubs @ Giants (Tseng - Bumgarner)

21:05 Reds SS @ White Sox (Castillo - Guerrero)

21:05 Indians @ Reds SS (Bauer - Bailey)

    21:10 Dodgers @ Mariners (Kershaw - Gonzales)

    21:10 Padres @ Angels (Mitchell - Richards)

I'll watch the start of the Phillies to see Nola, then the Jays until the Dodgers game, then switch to KershGod :cheer:

  7. Just watched the replay of the Shapovalov-Tiafoe matchup in Delray and, as sad as I am that Shapo did not make it to the final, Tiafoe played amazing! No wonder he beat Delpo earlier in the tournament... The NextGen guys are really starting the year well, I'm loving it!

  8. It took me a little time to get into these Games, but once the Swiss athletes started to be involved and winning medals, it was easier

I have a few favorite moments:

    • The double in women's ski slopestyle that was unexpected
    • Cologna's 4th Olympic Gold Medal (tying Simon Ammann), shed some tears
    • Zenhäusern's Silver Medal in slalom
    • Gisin's Gold and Holdener's Bronze in the alpine combined
    • The happiness of the Men's curling team when they won bronze
    • USA Women's hockey team finally winning Gold again

My biggest disappointment is seeing Lara Gut leave South Korea without a medal :( She's so talented, it pains me that she ends up 4th too many times or doesn't finish races. I really hope she'll win Gold at some point.

There were a few big upsets as well:

    • USA beating Sweden in curling for gold...
    • Ledecka winning gold in 2 different sports...
    • Canada not winning a medal in classic curling...
    • Both Hirscher AND Kirstoffersen DNF in the slalom...
    • Germany playing for (and almost winning) gold in men's hockey

There were probably others that I'm forgetting but these are the ones I'll remember.

Overall good Games for Switzerland, tying 1988 Calgary for the medals total (15) and surpassing the target (11) announced before.
