For me, the competition format is the only real problem.

Single bracket tournaments with 10 athletes? That's a joke right there. Should have been two pools of five athletes each.

:d actually the format is two pools of five athletes , top 2 advance to the semis

Thanks!

I kind of remember something like this from when karate got added, but when I checked the Tokyo website recently, I thought they changed it and opted for single bracket tournaments.

Seems like it's almost harder to qualify for the Olympics than to win a medal in karate

not almost...it's definitely harder to qualify than winning a medal once you're in...

especially in certain weight classes of kumite, it's really just up to that given day's shape...

Is there anywhere we can see the draws?

the official document says the "draw ceremony" will be held on 18:30 (local time) so I guess we have to wait a bit for that. at least an hour. maybe two.

    • Hope so (for my adopted country, Norway, that is). Torino 2006 was the first Winter Olympics I followed closely and it was nothing short of a disaster for Norway. Strangely enough, that was actually the reason I became an avid fan of Norwegian winter sports and have been ever since. As for my actual home country, Greece, a medal for Ginnis in slalom (alpine skiing) would be a miracle.
