Women's Handball EHF European Championship 2022

Recommended Posts

The fact that :FRA is great in handball (and in team sports in general) and :RUS is missing, makes Olympic qualification far easier than any previous one that we witnessed recently. That's basically two more spots up for grabs than what we usually have. It will be interesting to see which nations benefit from this. (Hopefully us, we need any help we can get to qualify...)

As a reminder, the World Championship quota takes priority over the continental championships so if the winner (or runner-up if France wins) here also wins the World Championship then the runner-up (or third if France is in the top 2) will qualify.

I hope we will start with an easy victory today. We are doomed if even :SUI is a hard task for our team.

Well, winning against Switzerland is not that hard. You can have a little more confidence in your team. Recently they beat Romania, which is very good team.

I don't know, there's absolutely no confidence in this team in Hungary, the general consensus is that this is the weakest Hungarian women's handball team ever. No world class players, the promising young players  who won the junior WCh and ECh in recent years are mostly disappointments, many supposedly good players were left out of the team because they are having a terrible season. The main narrative in Hungary is that we should be fighting for the gold medal based on how much money went into our handball, yet here we are with a team that at best is fighting for the 8th place. We haven't won a single medal at the senior level since the 2012 Euros, which makes this the worst period of Hungarian women's handball ever, at the time when our budget is the highest ever.

It's really strange, because Hungary always wins all youth tournaments. Then you also expect a lot of prizes at senior level.

By the way, 10 minutes left to win the win against Switzerland. I hope with you.

Thankfully Switzerland collapsed in the last few minutes. This won't be enough against Croatia, we have to improve.

Meanwhile :SLO with a huge upset against :DEN !!! :yikes:

(Bad news for us, this will complicate things in the next round)

Important win against Denmark. Next up is Sweden. Hopefully this wasn't the usual first round upset that our ladies are known for and that they will continue with this form. The expectations are 1/4 finals. This win really helps.
