I think it's the same case as of Spain's men kayak at the Worlds.

Except that Africa doesn't even have continental quotas in K2. :p

While true, it would mean either Tunisia or Egypt also declined the quota

Nevermind, it looks like Africa was eligible to use the women's K2 500m quota (Asia didn't get it apparently)

  • 1 month later...

Apparently Argentina did get their K1 1000 m spot, and somehow Russia got doubled up in K2 1000 m...

Not really sure how that happened. But potentially Spain's unused K1 200 m quota somehow ended up in Russian K2 boat? And then Argentina got a spare spot from Russia in K1?

Argentina got its quota from the Czech Republic (Spain declined while France's athlete is already qualified in the K2 1000m).

Spain's unused quota really should have gone to Sweden in the K1 200m and if Sweden declined it, it should have gone to Russia in the K1 200m and while that would mean Russia has two kayak men quotas, neither of them competed in the K2 1000m so the whole "athlete qualified in another boat" thing won't count. While it doesn't mean much in terms of number of athletes, it's significant because athletes must compete in the boat their athlete quota was qualified in.

This team definitely has what it takes to be a top 5 team and consistently contending for medals. First time watching Kernen play, all I can say is how is she that good at only 19? • So I was watching a replay of China-Germany in between Canada’s game against Sweden and this one against Italy and… it seems like China cheated during it which could’ve been critical in them winning the match?    During the 1st end, Xu with his last rock had an easy hit for the single against three German stones. One of the sweepers for China (I can’t tell which one, this team is quite new to me) “accidentally” kicked their own stone, which redirected one of their own stones into the rings, and Germany only got the steal of 2. HIS FUCKING FOOT IS TOUCHING THE ROCK   Now after, Team Xu was claiming that the stone was picked (it was not) and Muskatewitz was arguing that it couldn’t possibly have been picked. China wouldn’t admit it, and they ended up winning the game 10-9. BOO.    Hope these cheaters don’t qualify for the Olympics.
    • Edin usually has mediocre seasons though (that being said this has been worse than usual), then really starts to show up for Worlds. He’s only won 4 GSOC events in his career.     They’re at a 4-2 record at the moment, so seems to be the case again. Plus, they played really well in their loss to Canada.
