I must admit I think Spain wil get more gold medals than Poland, too.

Who do you think are the biggest Spanish gold medal chances?

Iran for sure...

then I chose Poland (but I wouldn't be surprised if the opposite happens) and Sweden (but I'm not convinced at 100% and I think it all depends on Sjostrom's shape)...

I am not expecting more than 5 golds for Spain. We have a lot of decent chances to win medals (we will probably tie or even beat our record of 22 in Barcelona 92), but gold medals are very difficult for us. The biggest chance is probably Sandra Sánchez in karate, but being the Japanese her biggest rival I am not so sure if it's going to be gold or silver. We also have good chances in badminton (Carolina Marín), tennis (Nadal or the doubles), shooting (both traps and the mixed team with Fátima Gálvez and Alberto Fernández), judo (Niko Sherazadishvili), sailing (470W should be our best shot, but some gold chances also in 470M, 49er and 49er FX), canoeing (in Rio we had the surprise in slalom of Maialen beating Fox, so it might happen again with David Llorente or Nuria Villarubla. In sprint we will have some chances in men kayak in K4-500, but I think that Germany will take it), golf (Jon Rahm), taekwondo (same problem, our 3 men and Adriana Cerezo, if she qualifies this week, should get a medal, but none of them is the best of their category) and team sports (men handball, even though Denmark is the biggest favorite, and maybe men waterpolo, where we have improved a lot this cycle and we have already beaten Serbia and Croatia).

In summary, I think that we will get more medals than Poland, but in golds Poland is the favorite unless we have a very good performance at the Olympics (or Poland underperforms).

In the othe polls I am going with Iran and Sweden.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
    • after a few leagues ended well before the true climax, now we have both leagues from the good, old Czechoslovakia going to game #7    shame that both games will be at the exact same time

    • Extraliga Playoffs   The Finals (Best-of-7 Series)   Game #6: HC Kometa Brno (4) - HC Dynamo Pardubice (3)  1-5 (0-1, 0-1, 1-3)   the series is tied 3-3 and also in Czechia we're gonna watch the magic of a game 7...Extraliga does never disappoint its fans    Game #7 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th in Pardubice @ 6 p.m. CET
