Equestrian Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games

Recommended Posts

JUSTICE IS SERVED

CAS announced that :SRI Mathilda Karlsson will have her points reinstated. She is therefore qualified for the Olympic Games.

Honestly, it is disgusting how an international federation decided to punish athletes for their own administrative shortcomings and mistakes. And then that decision got upheld by the FEI tribunal as well! Cases like these should never have to appear before CAS.

Just to confirm, :CZE Czech riders (namely Kellnerova, Opatrny, Vingralkova and Zvara) have re-confirmed their MERs after 2019. @Jan Linha

As of today, :CHN China and :UKR Ukraine still have nobody with (re-confirmed) MER.

Should China fail to obtain their MERs, Canada will be given another chance.

EDIT: China actually has one rider, but still needs another two.

Wow, thanks a lot for the information. I knew that they all re-confirmed their MER last year (2020). And for all eventing and jumping. What I read above is that all the competitors are supposed to re-confirm the MER also in the 2021 season. That is why I was asking in our Federation but haven't got their reply yet. .... If it was enough from 2020, they all are secured and can go. If it must be re-confirmed in 2021, then I don't know yet.

So if China fails to meet the standard....Canada qualifies a team in jumping?

    • I would prefer the 12 teams tournament in both genders, and give the almost 80/90 quotas to a lot of sports. For example, 32 could go to 4 more teams in each gender in basket 3x3. Then, the 12 team qualification i will do it like this:   Host quota gold medal of the previous olympic (-1 reduction to the confederation of the gold medal team) 3 to europe 1 oceania 2 south america 1 north america and caribe 1 africa 1 asia 1 playoff africa-asia 1 playoff of loser of africa-asia, 4th europe, 3th southamerica and 2nd north and caribe   and for the women probably the same changing south and north america quotas

    • 16 women's teams, because 12 is a shitty number for a tournament - both because the forced continental representation will lead to it being a relatively weak tournament and because you can not make a decent tournament with 12 teams, you'll be forced to have the super awful 'best third placed teams' nonsense.   0 men's teams   Instead of a total of 28, we go to a total of 16 teams. We gain 12 x whatever number of players are in a men's team for sports where the Olympics are important, we have a women's tournament with a decent format and we get rid of having junior championships at the Olympics, win-win-win

    • as usual, when a major tournament is held in China, it makes almost impossible to follow properly, especially when it comes to live broadcast    now, there's only a streaming on the official website working only on PCs, no YT, no apps, which means no comfortable TV watch    however, the first couple of days has already gone and we know the individual Sabre medallists...
