Maybe I understood wrong during her interview (I was also watching other things), or she meant information about the composition of the group or something  

 

It's possible that she assumed the 5 minutes was to Plichta and Shapira and when they were caught, they thought they had everyone.

It's funny, Polish ES crew with 100 km left said the women can't let a breakaway reach 10 mins. wins gold in Summer Games? That must be a huge upset no matter if Kiesenhofer is a complete nobody.

 

Polish media quoted Anna vd Breggen who apparently said she doesn't even know who Kiesenhofer is

Neah, it's alright. Modern cyclists are so used to radio-controlled races it's always welcome there's one race where you have to do it on your own. Old school rules! It's the same with lack of pacemakers in athletics.

First Austrian gold medal in cycling since 1896 as I'm sure Grassmarket will remember vividly. Of course that was a 12 hour race rather than a four hour sprint like today's road race.

Time for the women's time trial. Interestingly, Kiesenhofer had been preparing for a while for this time trial (and not at all the road race), but didn't know Austria had a road race quota....and not a time trial one, so she did the road race
