India, for the first time ever, finished top of the medal table at ISSF World Cup with 9 medals including 4 golds. What's more impressive are most of the medal winners are youngsters and some of them are making their debut at ISSF WC

wow! 3 Turkish guys in the final of the men's Trap in Changwon (the same venue that will host the World Champs later this year)...I think this is the first time ever...:yikes:

however, in this second stage of the World Cup (for both Rifle & Pistol and Shotgun shooting), so far we have Russia and China on top of the medal table with 2 Gold medals each, followed by Australia and Finland with 1 Gold medal...

many other Countries have made the medal table, but with no Gold...

for Italy, one disapponting performance after the other...:facepalm::wall:

and finally some satisfaction also for Italy...:champion:

Mauro De Filippi wins the men's Trap competition ahead of Jiri Liptak (CZE) after a very solid second part of the final series...

eventually, "only" 3rd, 4th and 5th place for the Turkish guys...

so, now we are in the medal table, too...

Nice Gold for SVK team in Changwon. The pair Zuzana Rehák-Štefečeková/Erik Varga won the mixed Trap

and only a disapponting 5th place for Italy...:wall:

by the way, success also for Viktoria Chaika (BLR, women's Air Pistol) and for local hero Kim Junhong (KOR, Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol), in this case also with a stunning finals world record, in the remaining competitions from today...

China and Russia still the only 2 Countries with more than 1 Gold medal...meanwhile now there are 6 Nations with just 1 Gold and 20 with at least a medal (those with no gold included)...

oh, man! he got so close...

I'm talking of Marco De Nicolo, the Italian veteran rifle specialist, who was second in the Men's 3-Position Rifle this morning. The winner was Sergey Kamenskiy (RUS).

Meanwhile the other competition from today (the Pistol Mixed Team event) was won by the Chinese pair of Ji Xiaojing and Wu Jaiyu.

Therefore Russia and China are always on top of the medal table, now with 3 Gold medals apiece. No changes in the lower ranks.

last pistol/rifle competition of this world cup stage...

Chinese Wang Zeru wins the women's 50m 3-position rifle ahead of Austria's Franziska Peer and Slovenia's Ziva Dvorsak.

Therefore China put some distance between them and Russia in the medal table, with no major changes in the lower rankings...

Italy's Petra Zublasing still totally out of shape...:facepalm::wall:

forelast event in Changwon...the women's skeet was won by the US veteran Kimberly Rhode, who also established a new world record for the final series (58/60)...

Amber Hill (GBR) ended up in second place and Amber English (USA, despite her family name ) in third...

only a disppointing 4th place for Italy thanks to Katiuscia Spada, with the "big guns" Chiara Cainero and Diana Bacosi already out in the qualifying stages (and not even close to the score they would have needed to make the final 6)...

China always number #1 in the medal table with 4 Gold medals ahead of Russia with 3 and a bunch of other Countries stuck to just 1 Gold...

    • Greece and Portugal also have winter sports centres - but of course these are not homologated routes for World Cup competitions I have never been to Albania personally, so I don't know the country at all. I have been in southern Croatia, though, and there are mountains there but you definitely can't ski there (I was there in the summer, but it's also impossible in the winter). World cup taking place there only in Zagreb.    In general the case of Colturi and Kostelic is completely different: Colturi has no ties to Albania and Janica Kostelic was Croatian and didn't left their country even though at the beginning of her carrier (and also her brother Ivica) her father had to pay for everything and the federation's support was zero. This only changed later. I imagine that the Kostelic family had offers from other countries (Austria, Switzerland, Italy?) to compete for them, which were much richer (at the beginning of the 21st century Croatia was a very poor country and devastated by war). All the more respect for them because they were true Croatian patriots until the end. I can imagine the Colturi family in a similar situation... Her mother would probably negotiate with half of Alpine Europe for Lara to compete for them Which of course doesn't change the fact that the Italian federation completely gave a shit in this situation. They let such talent go in a situation where they hasn`t a single female athlete on the podium of the World Cup in slalom for a dozen or so years. In the giant slalom it's not much better either, only there the older athletes cloud the picture: Brignone and Bassino. However, behind these two there is absolutely nothing...
    • Atalanta is probably playing the most beautiful football in Europe right now: spectacular and effective. It's nice to watch and they don't have to spend a lot of money for it.   Inter is playing very economically. It's not impressive but it's consistently collecting points. It's also the only team in the Champions League that hasn't conceded a goal this season.   Milan played very poorly yesterday but they won. They have 9 points and are close to qualifying for the play-offs.
