I think if we do not qualify in women's rugby sevens this should be a scandal.

Exactly, don't know why people think we're gonna lose the south american quota. On the other hand, I think we won't qualify any team in Basketball and might miss 1 (or both) in Handball.

Yea I agree with basketball. Its much tougher now to qualify. Also missing out in handball seems impossible on paper, but it always comes down to a one game playoff (most likely against Argentina, who might pull off the upset).

Colombia is investing a lot into their women's rugby team and they might pull of the upset.

Women's rugby rarely allows any surprises, I think Brazil is safe for this cycle but we'll see the future.

Brazil can't possibly lose in women's handball. In men's handball Brazil losing seems unlikely right now, but Argentina now has a top level coach so I don't know what can happen in one year.

I expect Germany to qualify in mens basketball. Missing the qualification would be a big disappointment with all the talent coming through. Do we know how the qualification will work? How many teams from Europe can qualify?

I think qualification in m/w football, m/w hockey and m handball should be pretty safe. I don't see any chance in water polo, softball, baseball, 3 x 3 basketball or rugby. Personally i am not too sad about that, because in my opinion 3 of those sports should not be olympic anyway and the only sport out of those that is really popular world wide is rugby. In women's basketball i also don't see any chance. In men's volleyball it's probably about 50/50, in women's volleyball and women's handball maybe 30/70. It would be nice to have at least two more teams than in Rio, which would mean at least 7 teams. 8 teams would be great, 9 teams would be incredible.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

The most Europe can get is 6, the first 2 will be the best european teams at the World Cup, the other 4 could be (in theory) the 4 places that are given in the final qualifier tournament.

    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).

On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
