You know how biathlon always takes talented cross-country skiers and teaches them to shoot in the quest of forming the perfect biathlete?

I know that Serbia definitely has some great athletes in shooting, maybe an experiment is in order to see how good they'd be on skis?

On the bright side, 7 misses for Altair is actually really good :cheer:

Biathlon hurts, but when your hobby is to rupture your meniscus, I guess the pain of skiing doesn't frighten you at all.

She'll start in the relay tomorrow, I'm putting my money on Russia with a pain lover like this.

Unsurprisingly, France takes the gold in the junior women's relay, but what else would you expect when your team consists of the numbers 1, 2 and 3 in the Junior Cup? :d

Silver for Norway, bronze for Russia.

Finland was well in top-10 contention in the junior men's relay, but Aapo Erkkilä for some reason stopped in the first lap :(

He passed 0.8km, but at 2.1km he was a DNF.

Seeing as I've been following the Biathlon scene for a good amount of years and especially focusing a lot on the junior results, I think that it's fair to say that Finland is growing up to be a powerhouse nation in a couple of years, just like Sweden has the foundations now to be able to challenge Norway, Germany, Russia etc.

I think Biathlon is going to become a very interesting and attractive sport to Sweden starting from now on. Seeing the amount of junior talent that you're producing, this might surpass the Zidek, Ekholm, Ferry, Bergman era.

    • First, they lost the medal in the short dance, where their performance were also the worst in the season,   Second, since they had a good free dance, with which they won silver and bronze at the World Championships in previous years (with the result from 2023 it would be another silver today), why experiment and invent something new? You don't change what works well - better is the enemy of good,   The facts are that the Italian pair achieved a worse result at the World Championships than at the European Championships and generally had a weak season, and assuming the return of strong Russians, to win a medal they will need to score around 216-217 points, or maybe more.

    • That dance crap, which is a sport of robbery, this year confirmed that it is a mafia. The Italians have dared so much by presenting a programme very different from the classical standards (and I don't like it) and the judges are harshly and rightly beating them up. Fabbri and Guignard have already announced that they will return to classic programmes next year (and magically they will be back on the podium). A discipline decided at the table.     Do you want bet something?

BK Mladá Boleslav (9)  4-3 (1-2; 0-2; 4-3; 3-2 OT; 4-2; 5-6 OT; 3-0)   HC Dynamo Pardubice (3) b. Banes Motor Č. Budějovice (6)  4-0 (3-0; 4-2; 6-2; 2-1 OT)   HC Kometa Brno (4) b. HC Energie Karlovy Vary (5)  4-2 (3-4 OT; 3-2; 2-0; 0-1; 5-3; 1-0)
    • The Italian pair have a disastrous performance: the score is much worse than at the European Championships and also than at the previous 2 World Championships. In general, they have been doing worse at every World Championship since 2023. Assuming that in 1 year one Russian pair returns at a high level, the chances of an Olympic medal are almost zero.
