Because it's easier to "climb the ladder" in women's sport (since it's less developed) than it is in men's, it's the same in all team sports.

 See for example Brazil handball national teams: both have almost all players in european leagues since a few years but the women have reached a higher level in less time.

Looks like Canada recovered. That or France is throwing the game so they could have a better chance at reaching the semi-finals.

What to expect from Spain.. just like men's World Cup a couple of years ago. I hope Canada wins Group A and then beat them in QF by 1 point!

TBH it mostly looked like Canada got it’s act together more so than France throwing. Canada had a laughable free throw and field goal percentage in the first two and a half quarters before getting it together.
