The IOC will not say no. Why would they block an athlete who has qualified??

Let´s hope you´re right :)

Game over, No Slovak participation in PyeongChang. ISBF announced that they will not give us the exception. The president of ISFB Ivo Feriani and Albert II of Monaco both said yes, but it was necessary to have also the approval of three others ISBF members countries, unfortunately all 3 said no. So it´s official, even if Radek and his teammates reached the standards they will not compete in PyeongChang. source in SVK https://sport.aktuality.sk/c/315939/slovenski-bobisti-spoznali-definitivu-matousek-nedostal-vynimku/

Czech + Slovakia = true brothers

Apparently the president of the Czech Bob federation send a open letter to ISBF yesterday

Quote

Allow me to express the support of the Czech Bob and Skeleton Federation to the Slovak Bobsleigh federation´s request to the IBSF to review the decision of the IBSF Executive Committee regarding the disqualification of Mr. Radek Matoušek from the XXIII Winter Olympics in Pjongcang 2018.

Sure, there are conditions for athletes to participate in the Olympics, but you have the exclusive right to change or cancel them in the light of the circumstances of each case.

I have known Radek for years and he is a great person who loves our sport, a sport which has very little support in Central European countries. The Czech Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation has no money to send three teams to Korea. This was why Radek used the very good relations between the Czech Republic and Slovakia and tried to fulfill his sporting dream. Both him and all his team managed to get the chance to experience it by achieving the required qualification criteria.

All the more, it's not just Radek himself, it's about the whole team. "

and this was apparently their own initiative ! wow. respect :CZE

but unfortunately the decision is final and unchangeable.

ps: The Slovak team at least offered to the Czechs our bob for their PyeongChang Bobsleigh team, so they may use it if they want or will need in case of mechanical issues with their original engines or for any other reason :yes

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
