completely right, but sorry...it's not acceptable that just because the past goverment was awful, the new one can be just as awful ...it's just not right

He will start in the 10 of December, we can talk about his goverment since then, he has a "titanic task".

:VEN will hold a referendum this week on whether a majority of :GUY territory should be considered Venezuelan. It all stems for a territorial dispute going back to 1899 apparently.

Here’s a good overview of the situation: https://apnews.com/article/venezuela-guyana-essequibo-territory-dispute-maduro-referendum-d3e65757ca8da2355994ec8a44c148ba

:BRA is also militarizing their Northern border as a consequence:  https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/brazil-increases-northern-border-military-presence-amid-venezuela-guyana-spat-2023-11-29/

Without oil, this wont happen......for his good, Maduro should see what happen with Saddam Hussein when he invaded kuwait.

No idea. I don’t feel like the world really needs another geopolitical conflict at the moment though :(

Honestly I doubt Venezuela would actually attack. Is anyone anywhere in the region going to accept that? Venezuela might beat tiny Guyana and take most of their terrority if there was no help in any way at all, but I doubt they stand a chance against basically any other power in the area.

Besides, several significantly stronger countries than Venezuela have some influence in the wide area and likely won't exactly want a war close to them. Seems like just your typical thing to deflect attention from how bad the government is doing.

That link you posted about Brazil increasing it's military presence in the northern border says a lot though. Specifically, the photo says a lot:

Spoiler

VGYQ2KEVN5IFHPKECR4WXUBMAI.jpg

Members of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela organize the people who participate in an electoral simulation before the referendum on December 3 over Venezuela's rights to the potentially oil-rich region of Esequiba in Guyana, in Caracas, Venezuela November 19

If actual armed forces are around and this openly involved in elections/referendums, you know it's just another scam election/referendum, Russia-on-Ukrainian-territory-style.

If some third party were to intervene (militarily speaking) it would only be USA, nobody else is interested in this conflict as longs as it doesn't go beyond the region in question (Esequibo).

The inexperience that they have shown in the last days can't be ignore, I hope for the best to Milei's period, but they have some sign that can't be accepted

- The work secretary is the wife of a high personnel of Pinochet's dictatorship

- The human resources minister (I don't know how to name it in English) has got ZERO experience, with an online degree.

- Macri's personnel are all over the ministers, that can't be right, specially if Caputto is the minister of economy.

I could continue. Again, I do really want that milei's government will be successful, but they have being really bad until now, and it's only the transition period.

Caputto or is his "Erman Gonzalez" economy minister (a minister who make all the "polemic desicions and quit after that) or he is only for deactivate the leliqs with credits using his lobby with CIF and anothers players, i dont see him too much time after that.

We have a lot of minister with zero experience in the past, is nothing to be worried in Argentina, imgine our current "chif of staff" was a librarian and nothing more.

Is the wife, not the husband, we had a lot of "ex guerrilla" members with homicides in their past like ministers,im not afraid at all with this old lady.

    • Great to see luge being back underway, but annoying that the graphics aren't really working properly yet     They're showing the time gaps at all the splits, as per usual, but then at the finish there is only the actual time, and no time gaps, resulting in all the time having to mentally calculate the difference to see if someone gained or lost time in the last part.

    • Watched the mass start on Sunday & it just didn't work.  Runners starting from the fourth or fifth row back (ie everyone in places 20-70) were losing time through no fault of their own - just not enough room on the piste for 70+ starters.  So OK for an experiment, but not for real meaningful competition.
