Oh, we’ve found some scapegoats for our mass shootings. Video games and mental health. Yes, I agree that video games can be overly violent, but blaming all video games is going far. Yes, mental health in this country is a huge issue. We should make sure people get the best care possible, but they can’t afford it. When we try to make affordable, we get labeled as socialist (something that doesn’t offend me anyways since I am one), which makes offering up alternative health solutions impossible.

But It Obviously wasn’t the guns fault. I mean it definitely wasn’t the unlimited access to guns that really helped people carry out these acts of white terrorism. Guns are to precious to be killing machines (sarcastic tone).

So so of course we’ve entered the thoughts and prayers section of the American mass shooting culture. At this point we ask entities that don’t exist to bless the victims and take them to places that don’t exist. When really we should be figuring out how to make sure the next victims don’t be victims, that we don’t have to attend vigils for 6 year olds, that we don’t have to bury our dead friends every few weeks, that kids can go to school and safe.

There is something so seriously fucked up about American culture. It’s been building from unresolved problems over time and eventually something’s going to give. Everyone knows it, even if they don’t admit it. They know that people will only tolerate the current situation of gun violence, health issues, social issues for so long. Hopefully the government pulls its act to together because I’d love to live in a country I can be proud of. I have so much love for this country, and it pains me to see suffer like this.

And then? People walk the streets for a bit, with their slogans and chants and signs, and then that dies down and a year later the whole thing repeats.

Very hard day for the Italian government after the today vote on TAV and the two day ago in the security law. Let's see if the government will survived to August, i have my doubts.

In 15-20 Salvini will do an important speek in Sabaudia

@phelps What was the new Italian law that threatens athletes you mentioned earlier. Could you give me your best impartial explanation?

This has to be one of the saddest things I’ve read in a while. Here is the list of victims from El Paso:

6 Mexican nationals and 1 German national were killed in the white terrorist attack.

What I find a bit of a problem: it's fine to call this 'white terrorism', but when an Islamic terrorist attack is called an Islamic terrorist attack, there are people who'd call you racist for it.

That’s exactly why I call this a white terrorist attack. Fox News and the greater American media in general like to label only Middle Easterns as terrorists, which is just so racist (and I call them out for it all the time). Often when the shooter is white he’s “mentally ill”, “lone wolf”, or “lonely individual”. So I’m just playing Trumps game. His supporters are extremists and they shall be labeled as such.

Oh, here the critique is usually 'when a foreigner attacks people they say he's just mentally ill, deranged, etc, when a right-wing person does it they call it a terrorist'.

It's just total and complete bullshit that all right-wing people are extremists, that all muslims are extremists, that everyone who doesn't hate Trump is an extremist and that everyone who is left is an extremist. Just call right-wing attackers terrorists (because they do it in the name of the right even though most right-wing people are just normal people living their normal life like you and me) and do the same for anyone else who performs a terrorist attack (no matter if they're right-wing, muslim, blue, yellow or Martian).

    • Greece and Portugal also have winter sports centres - but of course these are not homologated routes for World Cup competitions I have never been to Albania personally, so I don't know the country at all. I have been in southern Croatia, though, and there are mountains there but you definitely can't ski there (I was there in the summer, but it's also impossible in the winter). World cup taking place there only in Zagreb.    In general the case of Colturi and Kostelic is completely different: Colturi has no ties to Albania and Janica Kostelic was Croatian and didn't left their country even though at the beginning of her carrier (and also her brother Ivica) her father had to pay for everything and the federation's support was zero. This only changed later. I imagine that the Kostelic family had offers from other countries (Austria, Switzerland, Italy?) to compete for them, which were much richer (at the beginning of the 21st century Croatia was a very poor country and devastated by war). All the more respect for them because they were true Croatian patriots until the end. I can imagine the Colturi family in a similar situation... Her mother would probably negotiate with half of Alpine Europe for Lara to compete for them Which of course doesn't change the fact that the Italian federation completely gave a shit in this situation. They let such talent go in a situation where they hasn`t a single female athlete on the podium of the World Cup in slalom for a dozen or so years. In the giant slalom it's not much better either, only there the older athletes cloud the picture: Brignone and Bassino. However, behind these two there is absolutely nothing...
    • Atalanta is probably playing the most beautiful football in Europe right now: spectacular and effective. It's nice to watch and they don't have to spend a lot of money for it.   Inter is playing very economically. It's not impressive but it's consistently collecting points. It's also the only team in the Champions League that hasn't conceded a goal this season.   Milan played very poorly yesterday but they won. They have 9 points and are close to qualifying for the play-offs.
