You don't mind a state that take away civil land political liberties?
This is about defending the rights of people who disagree with the government.

Is it not a liberal democracy if not a liberal party win an election?

It has nothing to do with liberal, socialist or conservative parties. It is about civil and political rights.

Hungary is among the countries who have worsened the most in their Freedom House rankings, where especially political rights have gone down a lot since 2014. Back then they were at a 1 out of 7 (lowest is best), now they're at 3 out of 7.

But then again. That's just western propaganda, I guess...

but the funniest thing is that everyone has the Internet. Any news can be checked, you only need to spend a few hours to check almost any news, finding all the opinions for and against, even ask the eyewitnesses, writing them on the social network. But people still remained quite lazy and just believe any news inside their country.

You wrote the victory of the Fidesz is a bad news to the liberal democracy. If a socialist, a right wing or their coalition won the election that would be a good to the liberal democracy? That would be good to Hungary's ranking?

Whatever party that rolls back some of the rules that have restricted the political rights would be good for the liberal democracy.

  • 2 weeks later...

Kim Jong-un is in South Korea :cheer:

He also convinced Moon to take a step into North Korea before both headed back to the South and started their walk to the negotiating building :p

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
