Vida Blue - still the youngest AL MVP ever IIRC - passed away at the age of 73. He was a member of the early 1970s Oakland Athletics dynasty that won three World Series in a row.

:MEX Antonio Carbajal - the first player who participated in five World Cup finals (1950-66) and the last surviving player from the 1950 World Cup passed away at the age of 93.

:USA Terry McDermott, 1964 US Olympic speed skating champion, died over the weekend at age 82

 

He's also famous for appearing on the TV show which attracted the biggest audience in American history. Although it's probable that fewer people were interested in his interview than they were with the first US TV appearance of the Beatles.

Vítězslav Mácha :CZE  Greco-Roman Wrestling (75).

 

Mostly known for his 1972 (-74kg class) Olympic Gold.

 

Also was a two time world champion 1974 & 1975 and 5 times European Championship medalist (Gold in 1977, Silver in 1973 & 1974, Bronze in 1972 & 1975)
