True but I think you get my point  

 

It's not like 2:00.05 is possible, but suddenly 1:59.55 is not. It might take longer than your or my life, no idea, but I really doubt that in 100 years from now the world record is still starting with a 2

Meanwhile in Talence, Kevin Mayer is well on his way to a 9000+ points decathlon, potentially even a WR. He is breaking PB's left and right and will break the WR with 5.25m PV, 68.15m JT and 4:30 1500m. Especially on the pole vault he can do much better than that.
