Wait, so the qualifying is on another run entirely than the race?

Bring this in F1, qualifying for the Italian GP on Monza and the race at Imola :d

yes, basically they had 2 separate rankings for those who did race on the red course and those who did race on the blue course...

the top 8 in each of those 2 rankings would qualify for the knockout stage (crossing format: 1st red vs 8th blue and so on, with the faster of the 2 skiers of each pairing entitled to choose the course in the next stage)...

Well the curious thing is, not that 8 qualified from each course. The curious thing is, that the Final will be on a complete different course than the qualifying.

oh shit...

well, that is disappointing again..however, the positive thing is that this is not an olympic event, so it will not hurt so much I hope, but pity obviously, it was definitely a medal opportunity to grab today.

Since there no stream nor anything, anyone know what exactly happened ? I mean if it was a crash ? and if yes, did she looks injured ? Have no information anywhere here, just that she DNF and thus will not compete afternoon.

Thanks

It isn’t an Olympic event? Won’t there be 11 events in alpine skiing at the Olympics? What will be the 5th individual event?

The fact that 3 German men finished top 8 clearly is all you need to know to judge this event.

On the other hand it is nice to see that 17 yo Emma Aicher did quite well today. Would be nice to see a talented German in the slalom for a change.

Good to see :GBR Alex Tilley qualified.  As a rule, the shorter the course, the less chance she skis into the barriers.

If she has the same material as your ski/snowboard cross athletes, she should easily win a medal.

I think we will see her tomorrow in the team event.

Thanks, I thought that the combined got eliminated? Sad to hear that this event will still be Olympic. I think 4 individual events are enough for alpine skiing, but at the same time alpine skiing definitely should have more Events than speed skating/shorttrack/freestyle skiing, so you would probably have to reduce the number of events there as well.

Sure, why not ...

Germany doesn’t have a medal chance anyways and apart from Dürr, all German girls are on an equally low level, so you might as well give her a shot.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
