I thought he retired like 6-7 years ago :d

Maybe because that's when I went to Netherlands - Brazil with my Brazilian now ex-girlfriend and she taught me a lot about the likes of Dante Amaral and Bernardinho and how they are so famous in Brazil, but after that I never heard anything about them anymore (ok, that's easy when you don't really follow volleyball..).

Most volleyball players still play for years in our nation league after leaving the national team, that's why we don't hear a lot about them. For instance, Fofao (Hélia Souza) left the NT after the gold in 2008, but played until 2015 for the Rio team - the same team that, to this date, has in its roster the libero Fabi Oliveira (which left the NT after the 2012 gold). I think that's also the case with Dante, who played until 2012 in the NT.

So it's kinda a common thing among the top players.

And this sad day unfortunately comes... Justyna Kowalczyk announced her retirement  She will now compete only in very long "marathon" races as hobby. Thanks Justyna for everything what you did for Polish not only cross-country skiing but sport overall in recent 13 years :hatoff::bowdown: Sadly we don't have any good young or junior athletes in this sport for now, our future in cross-country is in dark colours...

:BRA Angélica Kvieczynski (Rhythmic Gymnastics), 6-time Pan American medallist and probably our best individual athlete at this sport, has announced her retirement this week.

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Have you already started looking for the hundreds of commemorative 2 euro coins? There are loads of them, including sports-themed ones.
    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
