It is going to be very fun to follow this tournament with Spain already qualified. I think that Hungary and the Netherlands will take the 2 spots, but Italy and Greece might surprise them.

Yep and let me add that it was the first time in 3 or 4 :wall:years that water polo is even aired here ,  the coach of the Women’s National team declared that this team is building itself to Paris 2024 and that we do not need to expect anything

wow. well, that is already something.

here we will have some water polo (Highlights of a match or at best shortened replay) when the Tokyo M tournament Gold medal match will be played... so to say about the medialization of this sport here... the fact is that beside the group  of die hard fans and Olympics fans no one even know about this tournament for example, which is trully sad.

Obviously the difference of level, depth quality and popularity of this sport in general between HUN, ITA, NED and even GRE to the rest of participants is so extremely big that any game not finishing by a blowout may be considered as good result for you or us for example :p

I am very angry with the place of South Africa, given that once again 2 very high level teams will be on the square as for women's footbal (Germany) or volley * ball (Germany and especially the serbia !!!) hockey 'pakistan for men or even women's handball (denmark) we must review the qualification system by giving quotas by continent in a logical way!

NED for sure, ITA at home will somehow benefit from this as they usually do...

but if you ask me who I want to qualify, then there no other option than HUN.

I mean there no other bigger much unlucky athlete or country at the Olympic Games in this entire world than the :HUN womens water polo team.

For god sake let them win that Bronze ! I mean yeah Beijing 2008 happened, well hard luck, but it happens in sport, however London 2012 was already the peak of frustration and irony of the destiny...but then came Rio and oh dear that last second Russian equalizer was like a slap to any sport justice, followed by the neverending penalty shootout as the last nail in the coffin

The one thing that deeply irritates me is that it will all depend on one match. Why can't they just have another round-robin with the Top4 teams? That would be by far the best way to decide the last two spots.

The women's water polo team is cursed, just like the men's handball team (5 4th places from 1936, 1980, 1988, 2004, 2012, no medal). It's karma for dominating men's water polo with 9 gold medals.

    • Well, I see that the national competition between mixed doubles and also men increased. Also actually amongst women, too. Before it was mostly Kubeskova team that participated in some international events. This year, Synackova team did really well in the pre-qualification just the final qualification was not that good. But curling is about details. Generally, I am glad to see that there is really much higher competition than it was 10 years ago. And seeing Chabickovsky a Zelingerova making it to the Olympics in such a young age can be really promising for their career as curling is becoming more professional, as we see Grand Slams and other big tournaments.    As for now, I think that in Milano Team Klima and mixed doubles can make really interesting results. After all, they will finish in top 10 so just qualifying to the Games is already a huge achievement
