By the way, female drivers in the 2 woman event are also allowed to compete in monobob at the Beijing Olympics so it won't really attract more drivers to the sport as it was supposed to.

It might help smaller programs like Slovakia, Liechtenstein, etc. though. They just need a decent driver, that’s a lot easier for them to do then fielding good brakewomen.

Have we got a full  list of all the proposed new events anywhere on this forum?

Only that list from ITG. The IOC (and IFS) are not required to publicly disclose their proposals.

Yes, but since when women's monobob is held during World Championships or there are World Cup events? It isn't like 2 years? IOC shouldn't add new events so quickly, they should firstly check if this event will be really attractive and competitive. If there are like 4-5 nations which takes this event seriously, it isn't good for me. The IOC and IF's should somehow encourage other countries to participate or help introduce training programs to less "traditional" countries in already exisisting since many years men's events or two-man women's event first to make this sport more worldwide.

Women’s Monobob, at the elite level, didn’t exist until the IOC created it. The IBSF proposed women’s 4-man, but the IOC approved women’s monobob. To be honest, I don’t even know how involved the IBSF was in that decision...

Sound advice falling on deaf ears at this point.

it's not popular in Asia, and it's not in the Asian Games program. only in the minor multi-sport events and almost only whenever Thailand hosts it !

as of today BMX freestyle had never been in the AG program. even Skateboarding only made it to the AG after IOC approved it for Tokyo 2020.

don't blame Asia for IOC's delusions :p

I'm not blaming Asia for that :d

I just can't accept all those changes and adding to such unpopular and almost non-exisisting events to Olympic Games in such short time. Some rules should be introducted which events can be added to Olympic programm after an period of time, not all at once. By this Olympics can turn into X Games and can lost interest of some viewers.

It's perfect example of adding all those nonsense events after rushy and unthinking decisions.

I was kidding actually :d I just wanted to say that such thing is not really popular in Asia.

and yes I totally agree with you. these events should have decent World Championships for so many years in first place (with at least 40-50 NOCs participating) before even asking to be in the Olympic program.

    • This is the World Senior Championship final, not a high school match   and this kid is under 20 (won the world U20 this year) and destroyed everybody (including  Olympic Champ Uguev and World Champ Arujau) in his senior debut.   injuries and lack of motivation play a big role, but if this kid stays healthy and motivated, I don't think anybody beats him in next 10 years. he is lightening fast, his gut-wrench is deadly and he can throw at will. that's the complete package.   not sure what Olympic weight he picks. Japan has the current Olympic Champion in both 57kg and 65kg.   I think it's fair to say Japan is currently the best men's freestyle team in the world. (despite being weak in heavier weights)
    • Sport is not only about the Olympics (which is somehow ruined by the IOC, mixing it with the politics and for this specific sport limiting the number of athletes to just 16 per weight)   it was a great competition (despite having a terrible host) . yep the freestyle competition ended up very badly for our team but it was great pleasure watching Masanosuke Ono and likes of Abdulrashid Sadulaev, Jordan Burroughs, David Taylor and Zavur Uguev.   watching Masanosuke Ono itself makes my day.
    • Only WCh 2016 was worse than this one. I saw some great bouts but overall, this Ch was unnecessary.
    • There might be modern tracks for lots of sports in Ashgabat actually. They organised some Asian martial arts competition some time ago and for that they built all sort of megalomaniac infrastructures (you see the picture of the gigantic horse head? That’s part of the main stadium), all in white (there’s some rule from the president that everything needs to be white in that city), and all pretty much abandoned since that time.   According to the delusional/brainwashed local people we met, “all those investments are understandable because Ashgabat will organize the Olympic very soon”.    That’s because the dictator is obsessed with huge buildings, if you see my third last photo, that is actually an indoor ferry wheel (yes, it’s a thing apparently), the largest one in the world (Guiness world record), and it looked really abandoned. Me and my wife were the only ones going on it.   Everything in that country (but especially in Ashgabat) is bizarre.
    • Baku is a large resort. There is a modern track in cycling in Ashgabat. The World Championships were supposed to be held some years ago.
    • There are some government allowed routes that go to the West, but the usual one is just around the two main cities (Ashgabat and Mary) and then crossing the desert to that gas fire crater.   thats what I did, entered from the east from Bukhara (Uzbekistan) and left again to Uzbekistan but in the Khiva border.   Not sure how’s the caspian sea there, but the only time I saw it , in Azerbaijan, didn’t look very clean to swim.
    • ...and this is how I learned Costco sells poutine in Canada    Is it a food court item there, or something you buy and prepare at home?
    • I don't see any photos from the Caspian Sea? I wonder if there are swimming conditions there?
    • Some other fast swims today include a new commonwealth record by Duncan Scott in the 400m free and a European record in the 100m IM by Marchand. Watch out for some quick swims in the 200m free and 200m IM later on.
