The incident was not shown live, but from this it seems it was a freak injury, rather than a fall.

They would have to do it so each member did one or two of the disciplines rather than a brief swim, a tiny bit of fencing , a couple of jumps and a few shots and a short run as that would look daft and not be exciting as they would always have to be gaps as people dried and changed outfits.

It is with great sadness that we announce that the Swiss horse Jet Set, ridden by Robin Godel has had to be euthanised after pulling up extremely lame on the Sea Forest Cross Country Course during the Equestrian Eventing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on 1 August 2021.

Beautiful sport, but after that (and things in UK about killing horses) we probably see equestrian sports out of Olympics in next 10 years.

Horse racing and FEI are separate sports. Unlikely an incident in that would affect the IOC.

I know, but our world is getting more and more familiar with animals, and I think equestrian should change, playing field should be safe for animal.

How on earth would you prevent a freak galloping injury?

 

Should artistic gymnastics get removed too because Biles had a freak mental block as well???

 

Arguably too much has been done for horse welfare. Just ask anyone who received 11 penalties today for broken devices, which are designed prevent possible falls. Not even sure falls, only the possible ones.
