You've got bronze of Justinas, I guess Laura will get silver, if they start together in mixed they might get gold as they did in 2014 in Warsaw.

Especially since last year's UIPM Congress decided to change the value of one swimming second - it's now two points (previously three points). You can see it during qualifications - when A group starts with fencing, the classification doesn't change a lot after swimming, when group B starts with swimming the classification changes dramatically after fencing.

And another interesting thing - Poland with silver in team. With no athletes in TOP 15. And only 7 points of loss to golden Egypt, who had Hamad in 4th and Hamed in 6th. Koreans with only two finalist (third result taken to count from qualifications) with bronze.

Tomorrow my fingers crossed for Maliszewska, but I hope Földházi get something individually at last - in last few years she had many injuries and had very few chances to win something, but she is really talented (she won her Senior ECH gold before Junior WCH gold in 2013).

Unfortunately Laura don't want to start in relay, so Justinas will be competing together with Lina Batulevičiūtė. Don't have a lot of hope for Lina, although she might surprise everyone like she surprised with silver in women relay back in 2015 World Champs.

I remember that finish against Oktawia Nowacka. So maybe now it'll be a chance for a revenge ;)

It's sad that we haven't any livestreaming for equestrian...

If anyone is interessed, livescore here: http://uipm.gem-technology.com/uipm-portal/public/scroller-live/riding-results-iframe/3766/1

Seriously, they are only broadcasting combined? That's like only showing the running in triathlon, or 1500m in decathlon...

indeed

Two days ago I was talking with someone from UIPM (not brave enough to introduce himself with his name) who was trying to convince me that they made huge progress during last years and the proof is a partnership with Eurosport (which results in "delayed live" broadcast). I answered and wrote how big regress they made:

Quote

2011-2012 – agreement with 247.tv - full coverage of swimming, fencing (one piste shown), riding and combined event with scores live on tv (in riding current classification, in combined intermediate times and shooting range)

2013 – agreement with Russian NTV+ – fencing and swimming in highlights only, full riding and combined with live results as above

2014 – inaugaration of the new live score system on UIPM website, used also during broadcast – in 2014 no live results during competition, no shooting range live, in 2015 fencing bonus round added shooting range appeared, still no intermediate results in riding and differences during run

2016 – inauguration of UIPM TV being also resignation from YouTube – no more live chat, where fans from all over the world could talk about pentathlon (sometimes with athletes not participating this time), as it was on YouTube, riding only with few athletes

Yesterday they finished live before medal ceremony of teams, in live results there was no information about it.

Well, we've seen Laura work around 80-90 second disadvantages before the last discipline, perhaps she'll show her magic again.

    • Does the CAS have the authority to address from someone who believes the judges made a mistake in a given discipline? Pizzolato's last attempt at Paris 2024, which earned him the bronze medal, was controversial, but what does the CAS have to do with it? Even if the judges made a mistake then, the result won't change and this isn't the only case where someone feels wronged with this in world of sports. Unless, of course, they have some evidence of corruption or something like that
    • If Pizzolato will to return, would it be to the 86 kg category, or the 94 kg category, like Nasar? In 2024, they were both in the 89 kg category, which will no longer be at the Olympics, but in 2021 in Tokyo, Pizzolato won a medal in the 81 kg category.   Of course, it's unclear what's going on with the rape accusations- personally, unfortunately, I don't think he was ever a sweet angel- he was accused of other immoral things also 10 years ago, but gang rape? I find that hard to believe... Besides, Moldova has appealed about his bronze medal from Paris 2024 to the CAS- the verdict was supposed to be in February. Do you know anything about this? Did they have any grounds for this lawsuit at all?
    • Ukraine won 6 gold medals out of 10 in the women's competotion  + 1 silver and 1 bronze. Where do they get these girls from? It's always been a strong country, but they have never dominated like this. I wonder if their training methods would work in another country and if their coaches have any offerts to job from other countries? However, there is a significant decline in women's judo in Ukraine, so maybe they have directed all their resources and money towards wrestling?   In fact, Ukraine dominates Europe as much as Japan does the world- they have the best school in women's wrestling. In 2024, Ukraine only won 1 silver medal at the Paris Olympics? So even domination in Europe doesn't guarantee even 1 gold medal at the Olympics. Although, of course, if Italy for example, can't even win 1 bronze medal at the European Championships, then there's no point in even going to the World Championships...
    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
