So, guys? :p

it will take some time...be patient (however, Fourcade did the same move in the pursuit final straight and he wasn't DQ...so, probably we'll be, of course...you can't judge the same thing twice the same way :facepalm:)...

Agreed 100%. :p

I'd be very much in favour of a 'don't spoil sports in the threads of other sports' kind of rule. At least for events on that day.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

sorry, guys! it wasn't my intention to make a spoiler...it's just anger for what happened at the Gangneung Arena...

however, it's official...no DQ for Italy...so we can enjoy our 8th medal of these Games...:bounce:

Oh I wasn't talking about anything specific, just think it would be a good rule in general :p

Good winner by the way, based on this season. In terms of both women/men, I don't see which country has a bigger depth at the moment. France could theoretically put up a second team and still contest for medals in the mixed.

Really, i think that's complete nonsense, but ok. Their depth is probably the reason why apart from Fourcade so many of their athletes won individual medals here ...

I think a relay of Herrmann, Preuß, Schempp, Doll would be comfortably better than the second french relay, in the end Fourcade was the only reason why they came close (and eventually won) the gold.

sure...but since it all started with my post, I feel a little guilty (in this specific circumstance)...

however, once again I agree...it should be a general rule not to spoil other sports results in different threads (meanwhile it's obvious that the specific thread for each sport can have live commentaries)...;)

Of course it's the incorrect decision, but after everything we have seen here, it's not surprising. In the end i am happy for Italy, because getting bronze here would have actually been worse for me as a fan, because this would have reminded me forever at that race when looking at the medal table, a 4th place will be forgotten much easier. Italians seem to be really happy about this very surprising medal, so i think it's better that fans who appreciate this medal "get" it, instead of fans who will never be happy about this medal. Dahlmeier and Peiffer already have gold, Hinz will get hers in the women's relay, so i am only sad for Lesser, who probably will end his career without an olympic gold.

    • Sport is not only about the Olympics (which is somehow ruined by the IOC, mixing it with the politics and for this specific sport limiting the number of athletes to just 16 per weight)   it was a great competition (despite having a terrible host) . yep the freestyle competition ended up very badly for our team but it was great pleasure watching Masanosuke Ono and likes of Abdulrashid Sadulaev, Jordan Burroughs, David Taylor and Zavur Uguev.   watching Masanosuke Ono itself makes my day.
    • Only WCh 2016 was worse than this one. I saw some great bouts but overall, this Ch was unnecessary.
    • There might be modern tracks for lots of sports in Ashgabat actually. They organised some Asian martial arts competition some time ago and for that they built all sort of megalomaniac infrastructures (you see the picture of the gigantic horse head? That’s part of the main stadium), all in white (there’s some rule from the president that everything needs to be white in that city), and all pretty much abandoned since that time.   According to the delusional/brainwashed local people we met, “all those investments are understandable because Ashgabat will organize the Olympic very soon”.    That’s because the dictator is obsessed with huge buildings, if you see my third last photo, that is actually an indoor ferry wheel (yes, it’s a thing apparently), the largest one in the world (Guiness world record), and it looked really abandoned. Me and my wife were the only ones going on it.   Everything in that country (but especially in Ashgabat) is bizarre.
    • Baku is a large resort. There is a modern track in cycling in Ashgabat. The World Championships were supposed to be held some years ago.
    • There are some government allowed routes that go to the West, but the usual one is just around the two main cities (Ashgabat and Mary) and then crossing the desert to that gas fire crater.   thats what I did, entered from the east from Bukhara (Uzbekistan) and left again to Uzbekistan but in the Khiva border.   Not sure how’s the caspian sea there, but the only time I saw it , in Azerbaijan, didn’t look very clean to swim.
    • ...and this is how I learned Costco sells poutine in Canada    Is it a food court item there, or something you buy and prepare at home?
    • I don't see any photos from the Caspian Sea? I wonder if there are swimming conditions there?
    • Some other fast swims today include a new commonwealth record by Duncan Scott in the 400m free and a European record in the 100m IM by Marchand. Watch out for some quick swims in the 200m free and 200m IM later on.
    • Last stop on this TISC Central Asia tour: Turkmenistan    One of the most closed and censored lands in the world, Turkmenistan is a place with incredible things to visit, with a beautiful desert landscape, historical ruins from ancient civilisations, and the unique "Door to Hell".   But it is also a country where everything is controlled and restricted (we had no access to social networks and tons of blocked websites, can only enter with invitation letter, with a predefined tour and accompanied by a guide at all times), with giant megalomaniac buildings created in order to maintain a cult of the leader and its regime. It basically felt like what i imagine is North Korea (but without the hate for americans).   It is eccentric, it is impressive, but above all, it is bizarre. Here is a patriotic catchy song i heard when was traveling there. .      Mähri Pirgulyýewa – Halkyň arkadagly zamanasy
