Men's Water Polo Tournament at the Summer Olympic Games 2020

Recommended Posts

No disrespect to Greece, but I think there's a chance that this :SRB v :ESP SF was the real final, and I would say the same thing if we would be in the final. Based on how the tournament was going I started thinking that this is Spain's time for the gold, but I guess the Serbians had different ideas. We will have a really hard fight for the bronze against Spain.

Meanwhile, our team of golden age divas can't stop complaining about having to play 5-8 place matches. This includes the coach (WTF?).

Well to be honest I thought we had to beat Hungary to win a medal, and that if we lost to you then we would have finished 4th.

But now that we are in the final as the underdog I think we have a chance and there's no pressure on us. We will see...

:ESP had a really bad match, I think their heart wasn't in it after that SF, but I can't complain because we won a deserved bronze. Who would have guessed that only Greece will be able to beat us at these Games.

Sadly this is looking more like the 2000 :HUN v :RUS final and the 2008 :HUN v :USA final. Surprise team vs. one of the top favorites and the favorite has an easy time.

I still believe this is the final between the two strongest team of this tournament. This :GRE is stonger than :HUN

    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.

    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
