Some rumours in the Polish press that NT coach Paulo Sousa might sign a contract with Internacional Porto Alegre as soon as Sunday. Given the tough WC playoffs draw he is a dead man walking here since he'd be fired if/when we fail to qualify anyway.

Paulo Sousa phoned our FA chief today and informed him of wanting to take the Internacional job. The only question is how ugly this divorce will be :coffee:

Is it to internacional? In Portugal they say it’s for flamengo.

they came to Portugal to get a new manager, their intention was Jorge Jesus and they were hoping he would get fired after the cup match (they lost against Porto).

but seems Jesus is gonna stay, at least until Thursday, so they went for plan B.

which, in my opinion, is a big mistake, as Paulo Sousa is much crappier

Yes, it is Flamengo. Apparently there was a bidding war and back on Friday the news was Internacional offered more money. Today it came out Flamengo outbid them

For some reason Flamengo wanted a portuguese coach, they just were not sure which one.

I guess it might be related to the fact that the last three Copa Libertadores have been won by a team trained by a portuguese manager (Jesus in 2019 and Abel Ferreira in 2020+2021)

Personally I was secretly hoping they would take Portugal's national team manager, Fernando Santos :d

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid

It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
