That's why it makes even more sense to have one Gundersen and one Mass start competition at the Olympics. Simply because one favors sprinters while in other it doesn't really matter if you miss out in sprint finish.

Compared with both the sprint and pursuit in biathlon being a medal event at the Olympics, having two Gundersen events is the most fair thing ever
