great success for Italy in the Men's Team World Cup of Heidenheim (GER)...

after a few convincing wins against second tier opponents, they survived a scare in the semis, beating China 14-13, but in the final bout they managed a masterpiece of tactics and beat France 45-40...

Bronze went to Ukraine...

on the other hand, yesterday in the individual event the Italian guys didn't do as well as today and the final win went to Park Kyoung Doo (KOR), who defeated Yannick Borel (FRA) by a score of 15-13 in the Gold Medal assault...

Bronze was taken by Koki Kano (JPN) and 18-year young Mate Tamas Koch (HUN), both at their first World Cup podium finish in their career...

Today and tomorrow it's the time of the Women's Sabre in New York, with the Individual event first, followed as usual by the Team competition on Sunday...

French success in New York...

Cecilia Berder won the Women's Individual competition at the NY World Cup stage, beating South Korea Ji Yeon Kim in the final assault (15-11 the final score)...

Bronze went twice to Italy, thanks to the veteran Irene Vecchi and the youngster Martina Criscio (her first podium finish among the senior ranks)...

the Team event is not over yet, but we already know that the Bronze Medal bout wil be contested by Russia and Hungary, meanwhile the Gold Medal bout will be fenced by South Korea and France...

Italy lost to France in the quarterfinals and endd up in 6th place...more or less the same story of the entire past Team World Cup season...

Mexican Natalia Botello just won the Junior World Championhip in women's sabre

Curiously this is her second medal of the competition, having already a bronze in Cadet's championship ;) I wonder how didn't she won the title in the younger division...

The International Olympic Committee June 9th approved the program for the forthcoming Olympic Games - Tokyo 2020.

We are extremely pleased to announce that all the fencing competitions have returned to the IO program, which means that in Tokyo, medals will be presented in 6 individual and 6 team tournaments. Since 2004, the International Fencing Federation has been forced to use a rotating system to remove team competition from the program.

What would be the ranking of Bhavani Devi after 8th place in Asian fencing championships in Women's Sabre individuals.

around 40 or just above that...it depends on the other Continental Championship events running this week...

    • changes that go absolutely against the Italians (notoriously the top swimmers and not the best shooters in MP) 😭😭😭   now it's really time to axe MP from the Games 😈🥳
    • I think there was a feeling before the obstacle course was introduced that really, really solid endurance runners were starting to dominate - in Triathlon you might call it the Alex Yee conundrum. Personally, I don't mind at all if the 'martial' elements are reemphasised as that is the real 'soul' of the sport - Triathlon, Marathon and Road cycing are there for genuine endurace, MP is in some senses a 'soldiery' test - one reason I thought Judo might have been a better addition than the obstacle course. But placing a higher emphasis on the fight bits over the flight bits seems a legitimate idea - though it should also increase the X-country nature of the run so that the test of a fresh shooter at the beginning is rather different from the test of a knackered one at the end. I quite like the artificial hill in rio.

    • Guys, we are 3 days away!    3 more days until the moment we've all been waiting for, the Olympics. The same Olympics that not only has NHL players back for the first time since 2010 but more importantly the debut of our very own @brunamoura     Can't f*cking wait!
