Ján Volko destroyed today the 100m National record running (for Slovakia) a incredible 10.16 :hyper: but still 0.04 behind the WCH qualification standard :( this is too harsh standard IMO

It is not harsh, it is outright INSANE. It is higher than our National Record and the person that is behind our NR has ran in semi-finals in Olympics, has been to the World Championships and nearly even medalled in the European Championships, but got an injury right before the final, was only behind Vicaut and Lemaitre after semis.

From what I've read, in 2014 he run the 200m at the Youth Olympics, fell after the finish and broke both his arms. The last time he officially run the 200m before yesterday (2015) he then had to stop for 6 months for a muscular injury. He has been very unlucky with this distance.

However, he will be evaluated again next week.

Menno Vloon had a PR of 5.60m, jumped 5.70m yesterday to get the standard for the world champs, then moved to 5.85m and cleared that as well, new national record :d:NED

By putting the bar 25cm higher than your PB and jump over it? At least that's what I'd suggest :p

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
