2026 Winter Olympics - Day 2 (February 8)

I think after Stellato-Dudek went down, Canada gave up trying to go for the bronze. Ice Dance also begins on Monday, so they probably wanted a rest for their individual medal chance.

Honestly, even with Gilles and Poirier it would have been a battle for that bronze.

Very much agreed. The team event was an uphill battle from the start. Skate Canada had to make a strategic decision on whether to rest or use Piper and Paul, Canada’s only realistic medal hope in figure skating (which, based on how the judging has been, looks like a long shot). This was basically a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation IMO.

Early days but Cyr and McKeever are 13th and 18th at the 4.8km mark.

Edit: Now 11th and 15th at the 6.6km mark!
