So :FIN Minkinnen takes it, and there's going to be plenty PBs all down the list and encouraging results for the small teams.  :USA Freed & :CAN Rousseau both Top 40, so points & a decent Pursuit start.

Fun top-6 today!

And what's interesting is that this is a completely different top 6 from the individual, no one has been in the top 6 in both races, which must not happen that frequently!

and Finland may soon have a very competitive relay team

Finland have been awful in almost all winter sports, well beside ice hockey and cross-country from time to time, for a lot of years. It's very good to see them building people to challenge for wins again. Their new coach has done wonders it seems.

JTB and TB announce retirement and everyone outside Norge pop open the champagne and say "finally". Then Norge enter Botn and Uldal, who are the next incarnation of JTB and Taraj Boe :d

Always happens. They have the best coaches & ski preparation so it just takes 1 or 2 of the pool of a dozen young athletes to step up a level & the tradition continues.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
