Women's Curling Tournament at the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026

Well played, but in the all important last end the girls lost it.

But a fine showing from them, especially considering that Madeleine told yesterday that her mother-in-law collapsed a couple of days ago and is in a hospital where they don't quite know how it'll end.

So going into the last round of matches, both :SWE and :SUI are qualified for the semis.

:CAN :KOR :USA and :GBR are fighting it out for the final 2 places with one of :CAN or :KOR guaranteed a place.

I think the only way :CAN qualifies for the semis is if they beat :KOR. If they lose, then they would be out as they have weaker head-to-head against the others.

Likewise, for :KOR, I think the only path for them to the semis would be to defeat :CAN

If :USA can defeat :SUI, they would move to 6-3 and would qualify. If they lose, then they would need :ITA to defeat :GBR. I think they would then go through on the basis that they had defeated whoever is the loser of the :CAN/:KOR match.

For :GBR to qualify, they need to defeat :ITA and would need :SUI to defeat :USA. If :CAN win their match, then :KOR:USA and :GBR would all be on 5-4. Each would have a win/loss record of 1-1 in the head-to-head. :GBR would qualify through the draw shot challenge. If :KOR win, then it would be :CAN:USA and :GBR on 5-4. In that case :GBR would qualify as they defeated both of them in the round robin.

Happy to be corrected though.

Does anyone know where to find the Draw shot challenge standings?

Thanks so GB only need to beat Italy and for Switzerland to beat USA? Discovery saying they need Korea to win too.

I don't think the Korean match matters - if USA and Korea lose and GB win then all three teams would have 1-1 record so they would go to draw shot challenge which would give GB the last semi final place.

:KOR Gim attempts to draw around the Canadian stone for the deuce, ends up tapping the stone up and gives up a steal. Huge

2-0 :CAN over :KOR after 2 ends

    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
    • Also, I just logged back into my account, where it sent me to update my profile, and when I saved that, I got a screen that included a check mark next to 'Registered for the Draw'.  Not sure I totally trust it, but it does at least say so.  (There's nothing specifically referencing Drop 2 or anything...might just be a stock screen.). I'm curious what it would look like if you looked at it @esube.  https://tickets.la28.org/
    • I didn't buy any tickets, but didn't get the e-mail.   We bought tickets on my wife's account (earlier timeslot), but not 12, and she got the e-mail.

    • I am very curious.  We got extremely lucky in the first ticket drop, both my and my wife's emails were selected for relatively early time slots-- early enough that we bought our full allotment of tickets for good stuff.  Not swimming or gymnastics of course, but we were really pleased,  d   But today I received an email on one of those accounts saying that we were entered into the second drop because we hadn't used up our 12 ticket allotment.  I went back and counted-- twice-- and yes, we certainly did purchase 12 tickets on that account.      I am not sure I want any more!  Did this happen to anybody else?
